Brexit Is A Problem For Labour In Northern Seats, But Candidates Say Corbyn Is An Even Bigger One
Source: BuzzFeed
On Tuesday, in a leaked recording, shadow health minister Jonathan Ashworth was heard telling a former friend that the situation for Labour is dire due to a combination of Corbyn and Brexit.
Outside of the city seats, if youre in small-town midlands and north its abysmal out there, they dont like Johnson, but they cant stand Corbyn and they think Labours blocked Brexit.
Ive been going round these national places, he added. Its dire for Labour
Its dire
Ashworth said he had been trying to help his colleagues by banging on about the NHS in their areas for them. He continued: Its awful for them, and its the combination of Corbyn and Brexit.
Ashworths words are supported by many of the Labour candidates and voters that BuzzFeed News has spoken to in the North, and by independent research.

(397 posts)Corbyn has been almost exclusively in the north for the past couple of weeks. Huge cheering crowds where ever he goes.

Do you believe Corby is going to win tomorrow?

(10,303 posts)But one thing I can say: if Boris wins a majority, Corbyn will go - especially if Boris wins a big majority. If there is a hung parliament it will depend on how much Labour loses - if the LD's and Nationalists (SNP, PC) pick up lots of seats then Corbyn might be forced to resign to get a government in place - that is if a rainbow coalition can be formed. Even Sinn Fein is trying to help stop Brexit by standing aside in some seats so that either the SDLP or the Alliance can win (thus increasing the actual majority needed as Sinn Fein will never take their seats in Westminster).

The YouGov MRP poll released last night, which is thought to be one of the best guides to what might happen in the election, suggested the SNP would win 41 seats.
