Susan Collins will run for reelection in Maine

Source: Politico

Maine Sen. Susan Collins announced Wednesday she intends to run for reelection, seeking a fifth term in what will likely be the most difficult campaign of her career.

Collins has been raising money and running TV ads as if she was running for reelection for months, but delayed any official announcement, creating widespread speculation about her intentions. In a letter to supporters Wednesday, she made her plans clear.

"The fundamental question I had to ask myself in making my decision was this: in today’s polarized political environment, is there still a role for a centrist who believes in getting things done through compromise, collegiality, and bipartisanship?" Collins said in the letter. "I have concluded that the answer to this question is ‘yes,’ and I will, therefore, seek the honor of continuing to serve as Maine’s United States Senator.”

Maine is a critical state for the GOP's Senate majority, and Collins’ announcement is a major boost for Republicans. It would have been extremely difficult for the party to hold the seat had Collins decided to retire. Republicans currently have a 53-47 majority.

She has aligned Trump and the rest of the GOP on nearly every vote. Collins does a lot of posturing to gain attention, but in the end she is just another deplorable.

Was asked about Collins. He said,” Susan will waver, not sure what she will do, waffle then vote the Republican way.

I despise her teeny, tiny voice because I know what she is.

Plus, most shocking of all - their intentional, brazen sabotage of our constitution and democracy, and through aiding and abetting Putin and Trump, betrayal of our most basic national security.
If this isn't treason, I don't know what is.

Susan Collins was a 'right time, right place' candidate...

She was in a three person primary race and so far back she could not even see the other two candidates' tail lights.

The millionaire candidate sponsored an investigation of the evangelist candidate who got run out of a southern state because he was boinking his twelve year old babysitter.

The millionaire denied his involvement but the public turned against both him and the evangelist, leaving Susan Collins as the sole remaining candidate.

She can't afford to alienate her base with an antagonistic vote like that. A nuanced position on impeachment will be easier to work around than a yes vote.

Does she really believe this?

"The fundamental question I had to ask myself in making my decision was this: in today’s polarized political environment, is there still a role for a centrist who believes in getting things done through compromise, collegiality, and bipartisanship?"

She is not a bipartisan centrist. She only pretends to be one before she does the orange pustule or turtle faces' bidding.
