2 killed, 1 critically wounded after shooting at White Settlement church, officials say

Two people are dead and another person is in critical condition after a shooting at a church in White Settlement, west of Fort Worth, officials said.
White Settlement police were called about 10 a.m. to the West Freeway Church of Christ at 1900 South Las Vegas Trail, where three people were treated for gunshot wounds.
MedStar spokeswoman Macara Trusty said two of the wounded people one of whom was the shooter died at a hospital.
Paramedics resuscitated the third person, who went into cardiac arrest on the way to a hospital. That person remained in critical condition.

(4,363 posts)A concealed carry person or possibly a security guard took down the shooter. So no, this is likely not the anti-gun controllers wet dream. There was a rapid response from about 5 concealed carry people who were present. They all likely saved lives today.

(33,982 posts)A holstered pistol against a shotgun held at the ready is a shitty day, I don't care how good of a draw you are. I definitely view this as a win for concealed carry. That was a highly inhospitable environment for a crazed gunman. The two that died were at extreme disadvantage, but they at least got a chance to fight, which is better than nothing at all.
Best fix here is to continue to work on why people do that shit, and how he got a gun while in that mindset. For everyone else, know that concealed carry (lawful) is fine, but may come at great personal cost, win or lose.

I spent an idyllic childhood in Texas, so I suppose I should be offended. But as a liberal Blue State resident now, I can laugh at it.
