KOBE BRYANT DIES IN HELICOPTER CRASH

Last edited Sun Jan 26, 2020, 04:27 PM - Edit history (1)

Source: TMZ

Kobe Bryant died in a helicoper crash in Calabasas Sunday morning ... TMZ Sports has confirmed.

Kobe was traveling with at least 3 other people in his private helicopter when it went down. A fire broke out. Emergency personnel responded, but nobody on board survived. 5 people are confirmed dead. We're told Vanessa Bryant was not among those on board.

The cause of the crash is under investigation.

Kobe has famously used a helicopter to travel for years -- dating back to when he played for the Lakers. He was known for commuting from Newport Beach, CA to the STAPLES Center in DTLA in his Sikorsky S-76 chopper.

KB is survived by his wife Vanessa, and their four daughters -- Gianna, Natalia and Bianca and their newborn Capri.

ON EDIT: As a Jazz fan, I remember Kobe's first year in the league, a season when the Jazz were actually a little bit better than than the Lakers. He was young, straight out of high school, but I remembered watching him play, a bit of a diamond in the rough back then, and thinking I might be in for a few years watching him beat up on the Jazz. If only I had known ...

Hal - was Hal Fishman, the anchorman for KTLA “News at 10” - a local favorite in LA for years at the independent Channel 5. Hal Fishman was a pilot who had his own plane, and ALWAYS weighed in on plane crash stories and other aviation-related news. Often he’d take another reporter and/or cameraman up with him to fly over some spot where news was taking place - like a police search or missing person report, or near a brushfire or some such. They’d get their own exclusive footage that way. Hal Fishman has been gone for some time (cancer). I worked at that station briefly and wrote news stories for him. He was always nice to everyone.

Reporting in Los Angeles that they were with his daughter’s teammate and a parent, plus the pilot makes 5. They were going to his Calabasas training facility, Black Mamba, I think that’s what they called it.

Condolences to the family.

I don't want to hear Trump come out and say a damned thing, not after threatening Schiff today. But, he probably thinks everyone would like his comments. Well, leave this poor family alone. Stay away, Trump.

Heard this news at the end of that college basketball game. They came up at the end in a black frame and announced it. Jesus Christ, can't we ever get a break? There's just nothing you can do or say to make it different. It happened. Poor family. I feel really bad for them. I am so sorry.
