Rep. Collins confirms he will seek Senate seat in Georgia, triggering GOP brawl

Source: Washington Post

Rep. Douglas A. Collins confirmed Wednesday that he will challenge Sen. Kelly Loeffler in Georgia, a move that appears likely to trigger an intraparty Republican brawl between a top defender of President Trump and a business executive who was appointed to the post by Republican Gov. Brian Kemp.

“We’re in for the Georgia Senate race down here,” Collins said during an appearance on Fox News from Atlanta. He said a more formal announcement would come later.

Collins, a four-term Republican from northern Georgia, had lobbied hard for the position when Sen. Johnny Isakson announced his retirement last year. Kemp, however, chose Loeffler, against the advice of Trump, who backed Collins for the job.

Democrats are eyeing Georgia as a top 2020 target in their bid to retake the Senate. Since the race would constitute a special election to finish Isakson’s last two years in office, it would not include a primary, allowing multiple candidates of both parties to run for the position.

The text is something a junior high student would write.

I hope their fight is long and expensive and devastating to both.

Loeffler has already made a sliver of news by saying she's breaking with her friend Mitt Romney because he's trying to appease Democrats.

he is exactly the type of toxic character the senate doesn't need.

In saying that, i can see him be a future gop senate leader, a.k.a. Mitch 2.0 because of the latter.

republican success in GA, and especially dittoheads like collins, depend heavily on GA dems continuing to let 3 GA universities, Georgia 7, Georgia Tech 5, Georgia Southern 2, keep endorsing 14 limbaugh stations.

if GA dems did what the uni of CO community activists and local govt succeeded in doing last september — making COs loudest AM radio station decide between CU football, with broncos and rockies following, and limbaugh. so limbaugh was demoted to a lesser station.

whatever the unis do advertisers will head for the hills and when the ad industry has to finally start asking clients if they REALLY want to support trump and global warming then the RW radio monopoly, trump's only advantage, will fall apart

THAT is brilliant.

CooCoo Collins is the LAST thing the senate needs. But I can see him challenging McConnell in a power struggle: "Battle of the Bigots" They could promote it like a WWE event. Complete with blonde bimbos in bikinis strutting around with sign boards.
