Brexit: European Parliament overwhelmingly backs terms of UK's exit

Source: BBC

Members of the European Parliament have overwhelmingly backed the terms of the UK's departure from the EU.

MEPs ratified the Brexit Withdrawal Agreement by 621 votes to 49 following an emotional debate in Brussels.

After the vote, MEPs marked the UK's exit by singing Auld Lang Syne.

The UK is due to leave the bloc at 23:00 GMT on Friday. After the UK leaves, there will be an 11-month transition period in which the two sides hope to negotiate their future economic relationship.

Breaking up and otherwise weakening the EU has been a cherished GOPee goal since the 1990s at least.

Why? They see the Euro as the only plausible competitor to the dollar as the world's fiat currency of choice.

Leaving the largest economic treaty in the world on Friday with no economic plan. Sounds great. Should go well.

Lots of good deals ahead, especially when USA predators slice up your NHS.

Otherwise, they’ll be forced to deal with his trade terms, which will be pushing chlorinated chicken and pork loaded with antibiotics and who knows what growth hormones. And big US drug and insurance companies are salivating to get their hands on the NHS and turn it into the second most expensive health care system in the world.

Scotland will vote for independence.

Northern Ireland won't be too far behind...granted in years, but they will choose to reunite with Ireland, once they are given some fairly good concessions. It will be Wales and England.

Curious, if this spurs other loose held like Canada to say, "yeah...fuck you, you're on your own".

Makes me wonder, if the mad drama with Harry and Megan is actually a premonition, decreased role of the Royal Family due to the inevitability of decreased role of the UK...or what's left of it. Them moving to Canada may be to hold the very loose ties to the UK.

"May you live in interesting times".
