Details about the incident were kept under wraps for three years and were never revealed to the public or officials with the FBI and Department of Homeland Security, according to the report. County officials believe that the incident did not interfere with vote counts, the newspaper reports.
On Wednesday, Wendy Sartory Link, the recently appointed election supervisor of Palm Beach county, acknowledged that the government voting system sustained a previously undisclosed ransomware attack in mid-September 2016, according to the news report.

(14,593 posts)We need to make fair elections and the elimination of gerrymandering and voter suppression priorities. We've got good people in the fight, though. Stacey Abrams in GA comes to mind. And in FL, this probably would NEVER have come to light without opposition to cheating like this.
As to ransomware, small towns all over the US fall prey to it for months at a time already.

(8,847 posts)that after the 2000 and 2004 election voting machine fraud I expected that Obama would sic the FBI and his DOJ on that exact problem the minute he took office. Eight long years went by, and not a single thing was done by Obama. One of two things I was upset about concerning Obama. Other wise he was an incredible individual..........
If I were to ever meet Obama, I would want to ask him about that, and why he told the Pharmaceutical Industry he would not go after negotiating prices for Medicare patients the first month he was in office.........
PLEASE don't bombard me with tons of crap for asking these questions. Like I said, otherwise he was an incredible individual.
