Bolton Warns of Possible 'Censorship' of His White House Memoir

Source: Bloomberg

(Bloomberg) -- Former National Security Advisor John Bolton raised alarm the Trump administration could block his memoir that describes his interaction with the president over Ukraine.

“I hope it’s not suppressed,” Bolton said Monday at a talk at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. “This is an effort to write history, and I did it the best I can. We’ll have to see what comes out of the censorship.”

Bolton added later: “I say things in the manuscript about what he said to me,” referring to Trump. “I hope they become public someday. He tweets but I can’t talk about it. How fair is that?”

Bolton said he couldn’t answer a question related to North Korea because it’s also included in his book, which is undergoing pre-publication review by the government. The Trump administration already has raised concern about the manuscript divulging secret information.

It's no secret Trump is an incompetent boob but I think that's the stuff he wants censored more than anything.

Typical republican. Only speaks up when it affects him, and book sales. I hope his book FLOPS big time. If he truly cared about this county, he would have appeared in front of Congress and spilled the beans on the boob in the WH. He worked for Dubya and that was bad enough, but tRump is even worse and even DUMBER. A real patriot would have spoken up during the Cheney administration and all the lies we were fed at that time.

Who cares, Johnny? The only thing important about his memoirs is that he put a price tag on his “patriotism”.

We all know Trump is a dumpster fire, Bolton’s version is old news.

Could have made any White House objections moot. If it’s in the public record, censorship for any reason is like closing the barn door after the horse is gone.

If he truly wants information about Trump’s corruption to come out, he can testify. He no longer works for Trump. Is executive privilege even applicable? I think I remember reading that executive privilege cannot be raised to hide criminal conduct. If Trump is able to prevent publication and Bolton still refuses to testify, he is a traitor to,his country.

Like, oh, House Foreign Affairs or House Judiciary or House Oversight, etc ? Even if he was threatened with jail, as long as he's testifying in secret, what judge is going to throw him in jail for a long time ?

He might get a few weeks in jail, but a small price for democracy. He can then testify publicly later.

And, oh yea, I agree with everyone else that he's far more worried and has been far more worried about money and potential revenue streams from TrumpRepublicans than democracy.

This guy knows how to play the publicity game as good as any ad man or woman. Blah, blah, blah.
I’d buy it if I didn’t despise him so much, so his flurry of press babble is falling on my deaf ears.

Big Bill Barr will has Muellered him. What we will eventually learn from the book won’t be much worse than the daily insanity that we already have to endure from the White House.

He’s as much of a carnival huckster as this administration’s puppet masters.

This jackass.

Look, just go the “Lev Parnas” route if you have information you think the American people need to know so bad. What’s Trump going to do? Sue you? And? That would lead to discovery, n’est pas? Who do you think that hurts, him or you?

No, but what this is REALLY is about selling a book. We’re a capitalist society and I don’t begrudge anyone turning a profit where they can get it legally, but I hope Bolton doesn’t make Dollar One from this book. The greed is just too naked...

Maybe he should have testified before the senate with all his information. And don’t tell me he wasn’t going be allowed. A lot of the GOP were still in doubt at that time about having witnesses. If he had kicked up a huge fuss then that clown Ronald McConnell wouldn’t have been able to prevent him.

I refuse to to waste my money on that enabler’s book!

Bolton isn't showing any indication that he has the guts to utilize such ways. Worthless piece of shit---talks a real good game about committing hundreds of thousands of U.S. soldiers to pointless wars, but lacks the cojones to take a principled act, himself. Typical conservative.
