Judge in Roger Stone case needles Trump admin for reducing sentencing guidelines

Source: Raw Story

Judge Amy Berman Jackson seemed to take a swipe at Attorney General William Barr’s Justice Department over the sentencing recommendations for Roger Stone.

At a court hearing on Thursday, Jackson addressed the fact that prosecutors had asked for a more lenient sentence for Stone. The judge noted that it was unusual for the government to take the side of the defendant in criminal cases.

the rule of law and order.

I have a little story myself in that I just talked to a friend of mine (a judge) and he cheered us up (4 of us were sitting at a table, and he leaned in), and said that they (he and others like him) are sticking hard and fast on the rule of law and order, and while some rump cronies seem to think that law and order doesn't apply, he said that they're going to find out the hard way that they are way wrong.

When he said that, I was happy (not overwhelmingly happy, but happy to know that they are good people who are still out there, that do care about law and order, and that justice is applied equally to all). Maybe, just maybe he knows something else that we didn't, but still, it sounded good to hear, that some do believe in the concept of law and order, and believe in holding it up.
