New York City doctor says he has to 'plead to test people' for coronavirus

Source: CNBC

"I'm here to tell you, right now, at one of the busiest hospitals in the country, I don't have it at my finger tips," he said. "I still have to make my case, plead to test people. This is not good. We know that there are 88 cases in the United States. There are going to be hundreds by middle of week. There's going to be thousands by next week. And this is a testing issue."

The team at New York-Presbyterian Hospital are isolating suspected coronavirus patients and taking proper precautions to prevent the spread, McCarthy said, but "they're hamstrung."

New York state and city officials confirmed the first case in New York City on Sunday.

"In New York state, the person who tested positive is only the 32nd test we've done in this state," he said. "That is a national scandal."

for all the reported cases, how many out there that haven't been tested or diagnosed, people who could have it and are unwittingly spreading it? The incompetence is staggering.

If cases are not confirmed by testing, they don't exist. trump/pence claim they did a great job containing the spread of the virus.

They are all about perception and winning an election. But of course, they are also grossly incompetent as well.

More tax cuts.

Or he wants to create Lebensraum.

If the government is competent, people will want more of it. So Trump has a different plan.

They want it to be so bad they can cancel the elections as a public health threat. You know the fucking SCOTUS will back him up in anything and everything since they have already in effect discarded the constitution when it comes to repugs.

that is to diminish the American public's confidence in our government, giving them justification for further defunding.

developed at the NYS Wadsworth Lab, after a several day wait, after Cuomo 'spoke' to Pence. Per the gov, they are also now 'providing hospitals with guidance on replicating' the State's test.

FYI It appears that this guy wrote a book on 'Superbugs' last year. But I'm sure he's on CNBC right now, rather than pitching in at the hospital in his self-described dire straits, out of nothing but altruism.

Just in case they think they are, the people in the WH are not immune from getting this virus. Just saying.
