U.S. District Court blocks Michigan's Medicaid work requirements

A federal judge in Washington, D.C., has issued a partial summary judgment blocking Michigans new Medicaid work requirements, based on a higher courts decision on similar requirements in other states.
Todays ruling means Michigan cannot enforce the work requirements, which went into effect Jan. 1.
The decision by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg was termed a great victory by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer , who requested the summary judgment in a court filing last month.
Whitmers administration had previously urged the legislature to hold off on implementing the requirements while legal challenges were pending.

(8,020 posts)their work status by last week, according to Whitmers office. This means that the fascist pig republicans took health insurance away from 80,000 Michigan poor.

(8,020 posts)while the Wednesday court ruling makes the program unenforceable, at least for now, the department has spent $30 million to implement the program hiring staff, overhauling computer systems, creating new outreach for residents impacted by the law, and training consumer advocates at agencies across the state. In other words fascist republicans cost MI tax payers $30,000,000 for nothing. If I run into a fascist pig republican I will certainly bring that up. Sorry for spamming this thread but I am pissed.

(15,552 posts)I am seriously liking Governor Whitmer. This is why 2018 was an important election. I feel like Michigan is in good hands now if only we could rid ourselves of those republicans in the legislature who don't want to work with our new Dem leaders.
