Coronavirus: Grand Princess to dock in Oakland at noon
Source: East Bay Times
The coronavirus-stricken Grand Princess cruise ship is expected to dock in Oakland at noon Monday, officials said.
After days at sea and amid rising panic over coronavirus, some of the 3,500 people aboard the ship will finally disembark and head to different locations in California and around the world for testing and quarantine.
The port expects the ship to arrive around midday, Port of Oakland Director of Communications Mike Zampa confirmed to this news organization early Monday morning. At around 11 a.m., an online vessel tracking tool showed the ship moving east, rapidly approaching San Franciscos Golden Gate Bridge.
Once docked, passengers in need of medical support or hospitalization will disembark first, along with those who are symptomatic or tested positive for coronavirus. Then the nearly 1,000 Californians on the ship will get off, followed by those from outside the state.
