Senate coronavirus vote delayed after Rand Paul pushes doomed amendment

Source: NBC

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell said the Senate would move at "warp speed" to pass coronavirus legislation on Tuesday, but Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., put a damper on those plans, two leadership sources told NBC News.

Senators were on Tuesday heading towards a vote on the package — which includes provisions for free coronavirus testing, secures paid emergency leave, enhances unemployment insurance, strengthens food security initiatives, and increases federal Medicaid funding to states — but had to slam the brakes on because of an amendment Paul proposed.

The sources said Paul is forcing a vote on his amendment, which would "require a social security number for purposes of the child tax credit, and to provide the President the authority to transfer funds as necessary, and to terminate United States military operations and reconstruction activities in Afghanistan."

McConnell agreed to take up the amendment on Wednesday, delaying the vote on the larger bill, the sources said. The Paul amendment is not expected to pass.

If you think that life is all misery with no hope for a better future, you support people like Rand Paul and Mitch McConnell because they're going after people who have a positive view of life and an optimistic view of the future.

Christolph Walz: Oscar, Inglorious Bastards. Also played a villain in Water for Elephants. Will play the villain in the new James Bond movie Spectre

Javier Bardem: Oscar for No Country for Old Men. Also was in Skyfall. Plus for him playing Rand Paul, in No Country he brilliantly play a psychopath

Gary Oldman: Not much to say here, brilliant actor, often plays a villain, could probably master Rand Paul quickly

As for the other thing...after he became licensed he earned certification from the American Board of Ophthalmology. Then the ABO increased their standards, and a couple hundred ophthalmologists (RP among them) got pissed off and formed the National Ophthalmology Board. The state regulators who accept board certifications decided this was BS and refused to accept NOB certification, so the NOB collapsed. Given that, Kentucky doesn’t require board certification to practice medicine, so RP didn’t have it after the NOB collapsed. He DID have a license.

First its trump and his ignoring this all along that it was coming , and even claiming this was a hoax, then prevented test kits from being mass produced, then he threatened anyone who was telling the truth while he promotes propaganda , and Moscow Mitch let the Senate recess while a pandemic is spreading this virus and killing people .Now help could be near but Pail sidetracks progress for attention to him. trump can't tell the truth and stalls things, MM stalls things for days in the Senate, and now paul pulling this stunt. They should be removed for this in this time of need. There is just no excuse for this from them, especially for trump.
