'I'm definitely going to get it. We all are,' N.J.'s top health official says as she leads the state

Source: NJ.com

"I'm definitely going to get it. We all are," Persichilli says matter-of-factly. "I'm just waiting."

It will probably be mild. She'll feel sick for a few days, then hopefully get better, she says. It may not be this month or this year. But, she's studied all the coronavirus pandemic algorithms and consulted the experts.

It's coming for her -- and me. And you, she fears.

The question now is how to best get New Jersey ready, she says.

At my age and with my underlying health conditions I am probably a dead duck, along with millions of others. Plus I am male and I have type A blood and research is showing that it hits males and people with type A blood the hardest.

So right now I am taking it one day at a time. I don't think I have been exposed yet but I can't stay in my cocoon forever. I am just glad to be alive today and every day I have left will be precious to me. I am afraid that my only hope and the only hope of millions of others is that we can somehow stay alive until a vaccine becomes widely available but that could take months if not years. I am also hoping to stay alive long enough to see Trump out of office.

I am isolated a bit. Don't go anywhere, kinda. (just a home body).

My son and his wife and three grown children live with us. They are
nurses already well in need at work. My daughter is a nurse in a retirement
home and very busy. Her children our in Jr High and I see them almost
daily. I feel helpless in avoiding this virus.

I guess my point is, I am not alone and we are all going to get it,
I am sure slowing it down will be a plus. I sure want to get through
this with family and friends and you too IronLionZion.

Age 68, Male, Type A Blood, previous lung condition and suppressed immune system. Five risk factors. Well, I've been on borrowed time since 2008 anyway.

Secondly...… I am an active RN in the field....Home Care Infusion Specialist...so, I am more than familiar with what's going on, who is dying and who is at highest risk of dying...including myself.

I would suggest to the Administrators, create a COVID Pandemic Response Forum..

My sister is a retired RN in Washington State. They called her and asked her to come back to work and told her they could give her a temporary license since hers had expired. She is going to be doing home health care visits which could be very dangerous. She is old enough to be in a high risk group herself. I am praying for her safety and for the safety of all health care workers.

Regarding the post, I also saw this story mentioned on CNN this morning. I thought it was a legitimate news story. If I put it in the wrong forum I apologize.

A recent poll showed something like 60% of millennials said they expected to die from COVID-19.

They're 23 to 39 years old. They're in the 0.2% risk group.

They were only off by a factor of 300.

And then there's the suspicion that the mortality rates are prolly still too high.

Hundreds are dying daily. The mortality rate will probably settle at 1%. That’s very significant.

It may mutate and become less virulent. Treatments, procedures, medicines will become more widely known, and better administered. If you can, cocoon in place. Have bulk foods delivered locally, or remotely from distant suppliers.
