(32,688 posts)Because I can't feel my feet, I often fall, or as I call it, do a face plant. I'm really good at falling and always pop right up and keep going. When I was running at the gym, folks would always come over to see if I'm ok. I'm 70 years old so they are concerned. I had found out that if I keep my eyes on the ground a few feet ahead of me, I wouldn't fall as much. Have a friend that is doctor that also runs and he pointed out to me that I'm not rolling from heal to toe, I was shuffling my feet. Doing that and focusing on it has helped and I can now look up enjoy the view without falling all of the time.
I'm sure the Congressman was running much faster than me.

(32,688 posts)My doctor friend has me trying Alpha-Lipoid-Acid 300-600mg/day. That may be helping.
Seems to be a gene in my family. My father and my brother and my self all have very high arches and late onset peripheral neuropathy without diabetes.

Why would my doc not tell me about this remedy?

(32,688 posts)some relief. When I'm having a hard time going to sleep because of the tingling, I've found Teds Pain Cream works pretty well. Pretty cheap and you can find it on Amazon.

(11,795 posts)I was out for a run yesterday on the trails near my house. I slipped at one point and then decided it was far better to stick to main gravel paths. Last thing I need is to end up in hospital.

(11,795 posts)I had planned to take out my mountain bike today, but I think I'll pass. I'm a klutz on the best of days, and even though my doctor jokes I'm one of the healthiest 40+ year old women in West Virginia, I'd rather not take my chances in a germy hospital.
