Poll: Biden leads Trump by 7 points in North Carolina

Source: The Hill

Former Vice President Joe Biden leads President Trump in North Carolina, according to a new Meredith College poll released on Friday, giving the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee an early edge in a key battleground state.

The poll shows Biden with roughly 47 percent support in North Carolina. Trump trails him at about 40 percent.

Trump carried the state in the 2016 presidential election by fewer than 4 points. And before that, Mitt Romney beat former President Obama there in 2012 after Obama won it during his first White House bid in 2008.

Democrats, however, believe that North Carolina has moved in their favor in recent years, citing the growth of its urban and suburban populations around cities like Raleigh and Charlotte, as well as Gov. Roy Cooper’s (D) narrow win in the 2016 gubernatorial election.

If that result holds up with subsequent polls over the next few months, and it is not just an artifact of the blundering on the handling of the pandemic, then there are multiple states that are truly in play and not just pipe dreams.

That being said, we do need to solidify support in our traditionally-strong areas and not take it for granted.

Along with that, my hope is that House Democrats will include voter protections, expanded access to the ballot, and a mountain of funding for the USPS with each and every bill going forward. And, as soon as possible, we need to deal with the 2006 PAEA.

Just my $0.02.

I have seen TOO many elections with our candidate leading by big margins only to lose in the fall. This gives me LOTS of hope, and it makes my day, but I am still too worried, as this hog and his enablers cannot be trrusted not to game the system and cheat on a HUGE scale.
