Sudan Criminalizes Female Genital Mutilation (FGM)

Source: BBC

Women were at the forefront of the movement that toppled Mr Bashir in April 2019.

Campaigners accused the former government of discriminating against women in various ways - including preventing women from wearing trousers.

In November Sudan repealed a restrictive public order law that controlled how women acted and dressed in public.

The FGM amendment to the criminal law was approved on 22 April, Reuters news agency reports.
Under the amendment, anyone who performs FGM either inside a medical establishment or elsewhere faces three years' imprisonment and a fine.

to a botched male circumcision that would prevent any enjoyment of sex, for the rest of their lives, just like it has for the woman who has suffered this practice. A complete physical castration could also work. It would probably only take a few to get the message out.

'Cause you know 99% (just my guesstimation ) of the performers of this attempt at control over women, are men. I feel nothing but contempt for any woman who surrendered to the brainwashing, and would participate in, or help arrange the procedure for another woman. Talk about a twisted "Stockholm Syndrome"... ALL involved who DID participate in this outrageous practice in any way, should be arrested and prosecuted.

What does it say about a man who wants his sex, but doesn't give a damn that it is extremely painful for the woman? This really isn't about sex, it is pure vindictive, sadistic control over another human being, who is considered nothing more than property.

Sudan is a start. Stopping the practice must continue until it is completely eradicated.

And we must accept that just because something is considered "cultrural" doesn't automatically make it ok, and off limits for criticism. A LOT of bad shit has been done, in the name of culture.

They just make the rules that women have to live under.

So, on top of the "adapting for survival" that these surviving women live with, and having been mutilated and trumatized themselves in their childhoods, they have to further mutilate their own half of the population, which solidifies and normalizes the mutilation in their psyches.

This is the male depravity that forces ultimate captivity of half their populations.

Our plantation owners knew it only took one man threatening death to terrorize 200 slaves at a time into submission on pain of death.

I'm sick of humans doing nothing about this half of the planet.

It's the secrecy and silence surrounding this criminal depravity that has helped it survive for centuries.

It makes it so much more grotesque (as if that is possible). Forcing those who have suffered it to further it for their sisters.

It is shocking how the mind can be so warped by those from the outside...

Sudanese women will get them in jail, too. They will win. They must use their momentum to push to stop all males behind this practice. They've suffered long enough.

Just like they convinced their mothers before and so on and so on.

Just a guess, but if the women all stopped doing it at once I am sure that men would still marry the new generation of physically whole women. Heck they might find out they actually like it if their wife enjoys sex.

You're right about if all the women united and how men would benefit; it's exactly what the civilized world has told them for decades since Alice Walker first went to Africa to make a documentary and write about it.

The first slaves were women. Capitalism is built on the free gift labor of women.

This same system exists in the West, with men having mothers teach their daughters the "consequences" of not following the rule of fathers, men and boys.

It's one good reason girls must stay away from boys and go to all-girls schools; then they must keep their wealth separate and patronize women-owned businesses and services.

There is no sharing of money and power with men that does not come at the cost of "mere equality." The men who feel they are the exception could offer reasons why this half of the population's system still goes on. Yet I can't recall that I ever heard any.

Is that the Left as well as the Right won't speak up, but for different reasons.

The Right for obvious reasons. The subjugation of women, the human cruelty, is of no concern to them.

The Left. Oh dear where to start. From refusing to criticize the Islamic fundamentalist subjugation of women, including full burkas, and some their own permanent stay-at-home orders from their husbands. (That would amount to xenophobia and prejudice!). All the way to present day refusal to criticize China, and other parts of Asia that still allow these "wet markets" of wild meat like bats to be sold alongside other meats and vegetables. Many of the recent deadly viruses have originated there. But the left won't even allow new viruses to be named where they originated from, if from Asia, like most every other virus is labelled. For fear of upsetting the sensibilities of the poor Chinese authorities. That would be racism! So the Chinese keep on allowing it. Because there is literally no opposition from either the right nor the left.

Sorry for going off on a tangent

that you can't fault the Left if it's not in power. And we're not. And we're working on that.

When we are, we should take this back up. Building international credibility will take awhile. So in the meantime, the Left should remember to respect the current naming system of viruses, and domestically, demand court enforcement of rule of law no matter whose civil rights are threatened.

The Left has critiqued itself for a long time. What it needs is control of law enforcement to stop the marauding fascism that's taken over this country from streets to the federal government. That's a whole 'nother discussion, though.

Which is why I hate watching them shoot themselves in the foot over and over.

I'm not just talking about enacting legislation when in power. I mean even out of power. Not only politicians, but the "liberal" media, and Democrats on message boards. On one hand an over-reaction to sexual assault accusations against Al Franken, no push back at all.
On the other hand making excuses for extremist Muslim practices, and any draconian practices if they are part of a traditional cultural practice, because that would be racism!. At least slavery is now excluded from that kind of coddling.

These kinds of hypocrisy opens us up to attack. We don't have to always march in lockstep to Policial Correctness, sometimes it seems for the only reason being to separate us from Republicans. We don't seem to be able to, or have the courage to, realize that sometimes it is appropriate to be Politically Incorrect, damn the torpedoes. Just stand up for what is right, which is not necessarily PC all the time.

We're learning from our past triggers. I'm loudly confronting every Democrat whose been duped into making "the perfect the enemy of the good" when it comes to our leaders and presidential candidates.

I've outright out-thought the liberalism that coddles intolerant religions, and am ready to slap upside anyone who mistakes misogyny for "culture." I can sort out the bullshit that people use as false nexus points of racism and sexism.

When we admit we're afraid to be wrong about our own flaws, we will beat the hypocrisy claims. Just because we don't think through our critiques, doesn't mean we don't try to go beyond our mistakes. We do. I don't even use "politically incorrect" anymore, because the right has adopted it as their justification for doing so much that corrupts its original meaning. We didn't invent that term, anyway. The right wing did.

We're the only thing standing between remaining a democratic nation and becoming a fascist dictatorship shit hole nation. A failed nation.

We've got to get all our elevator pitch arguments ready for the next six months. And use them with each other as much as with our opponents. Hang in there, LLLug. I believe in us more than any other group. 2018 was proof that we can change this country.
