HHS says 1,000 coronavirus tests will be available as senators return to DC

(CNN)Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar announced that 1,000 coronavirus tests will be available as US senators and staff return to Capitol Hill on Monday, after the Capitol physician earlier said testing for members would be limited.

"Good news: as the Senate reconvenes to do important work for the American people during this public health crisis, we have now received an initial request and are sending 3 Abbott point of care testing machines and 1,000 tests for their use," Azar tweeted Friday.

The Senate is set to return to work in Washington, DC, on Monday as their states continue to battle the coronavirus outbreak, creating anxiety and concern among members and staffers who feel their health is being put at risk. The number of coronavirus cases in the nation's capital are still high and health experts have urged workers there to remain at home.

Many senators fall into the high-risk category for age and pre-existing conditions that make them vulnerable to coronavirus, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

That any and all that are in the White House and Republicans in the Senate have been repeatedly tested over and over again.
More than likely, it is a daily ritual for them all to line up each and every morning.......

Someone I know here in Denver had several of the most profound symptoms, and went through hell trying to get tested.
After days of being denied, the person just gave up........

Sometime soon, everyone will be able to say: I know someone personally who died from the virus........
I already have two people I know of that have died due to the virus.......

Most of all, I pity the health workers who have to take care of all these complete idiots marching around in crowds and on the beaches.
THAT is the most unfair thing of all..........Included would be the Paramedics, Fire Fighters, Coroners and Morticians that have to expose themselves, due to these assholes right to stupidity..........

Side note does the test protect you from the virus? What if all the senators test positive will they be quarantined in the chambers?

the most vulnerable residents of DC and health care workers, not those pampered spoiled brats who already have excellent health care.

Yep, they will all get tested. And you will trust them... why? The senators will walk in to be tested and it's all okay. You think those tests will be accurate? The tests are being supplied by an administration that has royally screwed up everything it has ever touched. An administration that has shown over and over that it doesn't care a flying f*** who lives or who dies. They only need the senators in there long enough to get more judges for Moscow mitch. How many can mitch get through before the guy in the room with a false negative infects the group. No problem, 55 senators at this moment are over 60. I am sure they all trust the administration and mitch to look out for them and (ahem) their health.
So, I figure that mitch has 5 to 10 days to make a dent in his list. I don't know if I should call the senators lab rats or cannon fodder. Whatever, dumb shit will said first.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi "respectfully" declined an offer from the Trump administration to deploy rapid coronavirus testing capabilities to Capitol Hill ahead of senators' anticipated return to Washington in the coming week.
