Indivisible, the progressive group never keen on Biden, endorses the former VP
Source: NBC News
WASHINGTON Indivisible, the influential progressive "resistance" group founded in the wake of President Donald Trump's election, plans to endorse Joe Biden on Monday, its founders told NBC News.
The former vice president was never the group's favored candidate to take on Trump, with a February survey of its members showing that just 6 percent picked Biden among the then-crowded Democratic presidential primary field, well behind Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders.
But the group's grassroots members and local chapter leaders voted overwhelmingly to support Biden, the apparent Democratic nominee, with Indivisible co-founder Ezra Levin calling him "Abraham Lincoln compared to Donald Trump."

Trust me, the Indivisible chapters in my area are gearing up once again and busting ours to kick the GOP's and Trump's come November.

(30,741 posts)I would have quit the group.
I quit MoveOn when they got so gaga over Bernie. And I was one of the first to join, back when they wanted to censure Bill Clinton and move on.
Support the nominee. Period. No exceptions.

(14,173 posts)I know, because I am in that boat, how bitterly disappointed progressives are at Sanders or Warren not winning, and the platform they would have fought for, but we simply cannot allow another 4 years of a criminal Fascist administration to run the country. And must swallow our disappointment and move on.
Move on to winning the election. THEN we can be hated again by the center/right for pushing the party to move on issues such as Wall Street reform, M4A, minimum wage increases, free college tuition, etc.. I believe we are better positioned than when Obama came in. I don't think Joe will be able to dismiss that segment so easily this time. The public support for some kind of universal medicare system has never been higher for instance, the term "socialist" has been defanged to a large degree. The battles in DU over left vs right in the big tent will be monumentus again. But for now, we have to join hands and sing kumaya all the way to the polling station.
