A Group Associated With Donald Trump Jr. Is Buying A Major Stake In OANN

Source: Vanity Fair

When liberals look at Fox News, they tend to see Trump TV: a cable network that, with a few exceptions, has relentlessly pushed his policy objectives, and praised him in the terms that he loves. But that is not the way Donald Trump himself sees it. Trump loves that many Fox hosts are his loudest cheerleaders—but any deviation from Trumpian orthodoxy he views as betrayal. He sees himself as responsible for the network’s continued ratings success, and expects to be treated as such. In private, Trump reminds friends that Fox tried to derail his campaign during the 2016 Republican primary, and he vents that Fox owes its record ratings to him. “At the end of day, Trump thinks he owns Fox. He thinks he made them,” said a Republican who discussed Fox with Trump.

Trump’s frustration with Fox has only intensified during the coronavirus pandemic. As the nation’s COVID-19 death count rises, and Trump’s poll numbers slide, Fox executives have sidelined the network’s most flagrant coronavirus deniers. In late April Fox cut ties with MAGA stars Diamond and Silk after the duo promoted bizarre COVID-19 conspiracies, including speculation that the virus was man-made or that New York state was inflating deaths totals to hurt Trump politically.

Trump’s view that Fox is insufficiently loyal has motivated him to look for a more reliable media partner. On April 26, he tweeted: “The people who are watching @FoxNews, in record numbers (thank you President Trump), are angry. They want an alternative now. So do I!”

Trump now is on the verge of having that alternative. According to sources, an investor group aligned with his son Don Jr. and the Dallas-based Hicks family has acquired a major stake in One America News Network, the fledgling conservative cable-news channel that features hosts like Jack Posobiec, a chief promoter of the Pizzagate conspiracy. “[RNC co-chair] Tommy Hicks and Don Jr. have been looking to buy a station for Trump TV,” said one source briefed on the talks. “This is all about building a Fox competitor. Trump is really aiming to take down Fox,” the person briefed on the deal told me. (A person close to Hicks said he resigned his position from the family business when he joined the RNC and isn’t involved in the OANN deal).

Now it looks like he'll have both the WH and the official propaganda network. (Fox is not his network and he and his worthless progeny cannot control it's spews. Now, with a major stake in ONAN (the masturbation network?), Trump and his minions can play all day with alternative facts and racist bullshit.

But what about The Onion News, Americas finest showcase of objective reporting? That meany Trump is going to hurt them a lot more than Fox. Why not buy The Examiner--their news department has been going down hill ever since they dropped their brilliant and insightfull documentaries on telepathic lizardmen living at the center of the earth.

the only medium capable of dominating llarge areas of the country with unchallenged repetition

stop ignoring that, fix it, and these shits have nothing

andd that willl be easy now, with kingpin limbaugh croaking with lung cancer and artificial intelligence making it so easy now to monitor talk radio and do a stoprush x100 and force the ad industry to finally democratize talk radio

how many businesses and universities and pro sports teams want to be associated with the 3 months of COVID denial - a lot of the advertisiers on those radio stations are not trump supporters but have never been confronted with the connection

with questions that are either softballs, or rants against Trump's enemies (so, pretty much the whole world outside the wingnut bubble) that are vaguely phrased as a question. The White House and OANN will try to use each other for Trump base credibility.

In the months before an election, this is of course a massive conflict of interest; the Trump family profits, and gets to spread PR for the pusball, disguised as journalism.

19. OAN pushes wild conspiracy theory that novel coronavirus was created in a N Carolina lab by Fauci
Tue May 5, 2020, 06:55 PM
May 2020
On March 14 and 15, pro-Trump cable news network OAN aired a coronavirus special called Exposing China's Coronavirus: The Fears, The Lies and The Unknown. During that program, the network’s chief White House correspondent, Chanel Rion, suggested that the novel coronavirus responsible for the current pandemic may have originated in a North Carolina laboratory.

As support, Rion cited Greg Rubini, whom she described in the special as “a citizen investigator and monitored source amongst a certain set in the D.C. intelligence community.”
...
Rubini has said that the novel coronavirus “was GENETICALLY ENGINEERED as a Bio-Weapon at the Univ. of North Carolina BSL-3 Lab.” He has also said that it was spread from North Carolina to China, Italy, and elsewhere in the United States by the “Deep State” in a plot “to destroy the Trump economy.” In addition, Rubini suggested that Dr. Anthony Fauci, the well-respected head of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, personally funded the production of the virus, even calling him “Little Tony Fauci.”
...
The first hints of just how deranged that this special would be showed up in the second segment, which was, amazingly, geared toward attacking South Korean President Moon Jae-in. The segment featured a panel including two former top Trump officials: acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker and former National Security Council chief of staff Fred Fleitz. The panel also included columnist and frequent Fox guest Gordon Chang and former South Korean official Cho Tae-yong. The panelists attacked Moon’s response to the coronavirus epidemic, with Fleitz even saying that the South Korean president showed “incompetence and naivete” because he has downplayed threats coming from China and North Korea. (South Korea’s response to coronavirus has been widely considered a success, thanks largely to its aggressive testing regime, an area in which the U.S. has failed.)

In late January, that "news" company was valued at $240 million.
News Corp is 10x that. Time Warner is worth 30x that! So, 300 times OAN. They're a pissant company.
