Texas cases of COVID-19 increasing by thousands since reopening

Source: ABC News

Texas has seen a steady rise in novel coronavirus cases and fatalities since reopening just over two weeks ago.

There are now 45,198 confirmed cases of COVID-19, the illness caused by the virus, according to the Texas Department of State Health Services. That is an increase of 1,347 cases from Thursday to Friday. The new numbers have not yet been recorded for Saturday. Last Friday, the daily case increase was 1,219.

While the cases are still well below New York, the state with the most confirmed cases at more than 345,000, the steady increase shows that the curve has not yet flattened in Texas.

The state also experienced its highest and second-highest daily death toll just a day apart. On Thursday, 58 deaths were recorded in 24 hours and Friday that number dropped only slightly to 56, according to the health department. The total number of fatalities is at 1,272.

I think Republicans will pivot from blaming China to blaming New York or justifying growing death tolls on the ground that "it is still lower than New York."

They have convinced themselves that this is over, that is it has been overstated and the product of hysteria.

They are willing to make that bet. Let them.

Protect yourself and yours.

Only scared snowflakes wear masks or stay home. Way to own the libs!

It gets even dumber when they claim any new vaccine that comes out for COVID-19 is a globalist deep state plot to ruin their lives so they will use armed resistance to avoid getting vaccinated. They'll take whatever treatment their dumbass president recommends on tv.

Remember, Republicans are the disease. Dumbass and his hamfisted spread of a killer virus are only symptoms.

...while being egged on by Trump. Rather than taking steps to stop the pandemic, just find someone to blame and call it a day. If they have to blame someone in Texas, why not the last Democratic Governor Ann Richards?

Yeah there are some rw idiots with zero conscience or caring for anyone other than themselves who would be fine with that, but it is a losing argument when people are dying in droves and it could have been prevented.

As our friends in NZ accurately said to me - "your government is actually trying to kill you". Sadly, substitute repug party and it's true.
