Teenage boy charged in Canada's first 'incel' terror case
Source: BBC
A Toronto teenager has become the first Canadian ever charged with carrying out an "incel" inspired terror attack.
The 17-year-old boy is accused of fatally stabbing a woman in February.
Incel is short for "involuntarily celibate" and describes a view held by men, mostly in online groups, who blame women for their sexual frustrations.
A 2018 attack in Toronto that killed 10 was also allegedly inspired by the ideology, but the attacker was not charged with terrorism.

Here is an in-depth yet slightly snarky article about "incel", and here is a more sober, academic Wikipedia article.

(15,805 posts)ugly on the inside, through and through. I know a few couples, most of us do, where the woman is gorgeous and her husband is the cartoon image of every nerd, geek and dweeb you can imagine.
Despite their looks, these are truly loving couples. The, despite their lack of handsomeness, have it where it counts. They are generous, kind, thoughtful and caring, and they never miss a birthday of anniversary. They are real men where it counts, and never hesitate to cuddle the kids or get tarted out as a fairly princess to dance with their daughters and sons. They are reliable and dependable and their families are the most important thing in the world.
These incels are nothing like that. They don't want a deep relationship with a woman, they want to dominate and control her. Their rage builds because they see themselves as victims.

They want someone to fuck. I would think turning to sex workers would be a solution, but maybe they're broke.

(66,462 posts)I was unpopular and socially-awkward in my teens. I tried to be a 'nice guy' with the girls in high school, and became frustrated when they didn't respond the way I hoped they would.
I thought all I had to do was be what I thought was a nice guy. Looking back, I don't blame anyone for being repelled by me.
With the help of some good, kind, patient friends, and one extraordinary woman, I overcame all of those insecurities, and even found a certain level of popularity that changed my life.
I'm glad I never sank to the level of thinking violent thoughts about women. Not to mention, carrying them out.
