Letter Carrier Attempted Election Fraud by Changing Mail-In Forms from 'Democrat' to 'Republican'
Source: Law & Crime
A letter carrier has been charged in federal court with attempted election fraud, the U.S. Attorney for the Northern District of West Virginia announced Tuesday.
The postman defendant, Thomas Cooper, 47, of Dry Fork, faces one count. Thats according to court documents obtained by Law&Crime.
Cooper admitted to altering some of the requests, saying it was a joke, the Department of Justice said in a news release.
In April 2020, the Clerk of Pendleton County received 2020 Primary Election COVID-19 Mail-In Absentee Request forms from eight voters on which the voters party-ballot request appeared to have been altered, the DOJ said in a news release. The West Virginia Secretary of States office investigated and determined that five ballot requests . . . had been altered from Democrat to Republican,' the news release said. On three other requests, the party wasnt changed, but the request had been altered.

I can see il douche and the faux fiends using this case (leaving out details) to tell us all why we shouldn't use mail-in ballots

(38,187 posts)better yet, not. He should be punished under the law and lose his damn day job too. That is not funny. There is no excuse to tamper with the election. How the fuck can America oversee elections in other countries to make sure they are legit if we cannot even trust our own damn people not to fuck shit up?

We just got our June 2 primary mail-in ballots, here in Pennsylvania. We applied for them on-line.
I believe the main purpose of mail-in ballots are for convenience. It may get some to vote who otherwise wouldn't. But it is especially convenient for people who have a hard time making it to the polls. And now, due to the virus, voting at a poll could be dangerous to your health.
However, we can mail ours in, or we can drop it off at our local Democrat district office. (I think "Democrat" is correctly used there, if not, my bad...)
There is no longer any safe way to vote that protects the integrity of our vote.
If we vote electronic, WE may or may not be voting. It may be Putin that is controlling THAT vote. Or the republican manufacturers of the voting machines (soon to include the Princess turd, manufactured in China?) and their proprietary software. (this dates me, but remember the endless "black box voting" discussions, and Bev Harris, here on the DU?)
Since the turd has now installed his own fixer Louis DeJoy at the USPS, ala Barr at the DOJ, if we vote by mail and it goes through the mail, it will be in the control of DeJoy.
So we are going to drop our ballots off at the district office. That way we KNOW it isn't being tampered with, or switched.
We can still check on-line the status of our mail-in ballot, so even if we drop it off, we can make sure they logged it in.
And we will keep copies of it.
The ballot package came with a ballot, an envelope to put the ballot in that had no identifying marks on it, and the envelope to MAIL it in, that WAS identified. We would have to supply the stamp.
Nyet problemski.
edit for correct election date in bold

(22,270 posts)We also have the two envelope system for VBM.. The outer envelope must be sealed, then signed. If it has been tampered with, the ballot will be returned to the voter for correction with a new set of envelopes. (happened to me once because I did not read instructions properly) Anything which indicates an attempt to mess with the ballot would be reviewed.
I feel that VBM and a system like the one we are using offer the utmost security not to mention a 100% paper trail; we retain our ballots for 3 years, and presiding judges keep a copy of all the tapes and paperwork for 3 years.
Our votes can't be changed on the touch screen machine because the only thing it does is provide the correct ballot info. Nothing is stored in that machine. Voter can review for as long as they think they need to be sure it is correct, then print it and check it one more time. If it still isn't right, we will void that one and issue a new one with a different access code. Once the voter is satisfied the ballot is correct, it is then taken to a scanner where the actual count is taken. Ballots stay with the equipment and are bagged and sealed at the end of the day. The scanner is sealed and tapes are printed to produce total vote counts etc. The number of ballots scanned must match the number of voter check ins. We have to account for all spoiled ballots and return them to Elections Office. We have to void the check in if a voter has to leave the premises before scanning the ballot. That way the voter can vote at another location if necessary.
It is not anyone's decision to determine what mail goes through to its destination. It just goes there.
Postmaster General has no say one way or the other.
We have 5 lawsuits going right now in Texas, to establish if fear of catching COVID 19 is sufficient reason to request a VBM application. One case has had its ruling flipped twice as it moved up the court and appeals ladder. Meanwhile, the last case review made no mention of disability being verified, since the application only asks the voter to check the disability box which allows an "out" for those who really feel it's needed. To require the voter to identify the disability would have to move through the legisature.
