White House Discussed Federalizing D.C.'s Police Force: Mayor's Office

Source: NBC Washington

Bowser at a press conference on Tuesday responded to a question about how that clause works, indicating that it's not as simple as the president making a stroke of the pen. She didn't comment further.

"He wanted to show a force in D.C. and we know that they examined a lot of ways to do that," she said Tuesday.

Bowser opposed the move and said D.C. was prepared to fight in court if President Trump moved to assume control. The administration backed off, Falcicchio confirmed.

But the Trump administration is still apparently seeking to show some force in D.C.

Attorney General William Barr issued a press release on Department of Justice letterhead telling people to expect more police.

"There will be even greater law enforcement resources and support in the region tonight. The most basic function of government is to provide security for people to live their lives and exercise their rights, and we will meet that responsibility here in the nation’s capital.”

I can't help thinking that this is not about anything but protecting his dirigible butt.

Underneath that nasty facade is a frightened little boy crying for Mommy.

Or, as they say, CHICKEN!

Looking at the news feed from Washington D.C. and looking a the police, National Guard and possibly the Armed Forces, I am waiting for a Kent State moment. How many have to die for this failed madman pretending to be president?

The Praetorian Guard (Latin: cohortes praetoriae) was an elite unit of the Imperial Roman army whose members served as personal bodyguards and intelligence for the Roman emperors. During the era of the Roman Republic, the Praetorians served as a small escort force for high-ranking officials such as senators or provincial governors like procurators, and also serving as bodyguards for high-ranking officers within the Roman legions. With the republic's transition into the Roman Empire, however, the first emperor, Augustus, founded the Guard as his personal security detail. Although they continued to serve in this capacity for roughly three centuries, the Guard became notable for its intrigue and interference in Roman politics, to the point of overthrowing emperors and proclaiming their successors. In 312, the Guard was disbanded by Constantine the Great, as he oversaw the destruction of their barracks at the Castra Praetoria.

It didn't work out so well for him.

Of course, I wouldn't expect the Orange Fathead to know any history, but he does share so many of Caligula's more colorful qualities.

Whatever, Jabba the Bar. Seems one jurisdiction with a mutual support agreement with DC are pulling their folks out. Don't blame them. More to follow, I'd think.

He's against statehood for the district because it would be another Democratic State w/representatives. Thats one of the first thing the new President should push through.

And if Puerto Rico wants it, a new President should push through statehood for them as well.
