Washington US Rep. Smith decries 'militarization of America,' will summon Joint Chiefs to hearing

Source: Seattle Post-Intelligencer

The Washington congressman who chairs the powerful House Armed Services Committee is decrying the "militarization of America" by President Donald Trump in response to public and largely peaceful protests, and plans to call the Joint Chiefs of Staff before his committee next week.

"Use of the military, describing the situation as 'war,' using 'overwhelming force' to crush the protest, is the wrong approach, the wrong use of the military," Rep. Adam Smith, D-Wash., told a Tuesday morning press briefing.

Smith noted the Sunday night vandalism in Bellevue, where he lives, but said "misguided rhetoric" intensifies the national crisis. He singled out advice, given to governors by Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, that they "mass and dominate the battlespace" as a way of crushing street protests.

A Trump photo op on Monday night has intensified Smith's concerns.

T-Rump can get away with the military actions in DC for now because it is exempt from Posse Comitatus.

That's good to know because his show of force is limited to there for now. He does not require the Governor's permission, etc.

But Trump has never given a fuck about whether anything is legal or not. It's a matter of if the military will follow his illegal orders. If they do, this country is over.

There will be repurcussions for those that support terrorizing and murdering of American citizens. The usurpers will not be around much longer. They will attempt to slither off into dark cracks with the cockroaches and to return to their polarization and victimization of our society...do not let them.

Can he ask the Chairman of the JCS what the hell he was doing....Jesus, this is a highly educated, intelligent man who just by being around the President has lost his mind.

It is sad
