'Who knew what when?' Sasse calls on Congress to investigate reports of bounties on U.S. troops

WASHINGTON Sen. Ben Sasse, R-Neb., says hes heard from many Nebraska military families who are livid about reports that Russia offered bounties to the Taliban for killing U.S. soldiers serving in Afghanistan.
A member of the Senate Intelligence Committee, Sasse told reporters this week that, in deference to classification concerns, he would not confirm any facts of the story, which were first reported by the New York Times. But if the reports are accurate, Sasse said, Congress needs to focus on two areas.
Number one, who knew what when? Did the commander in chief know and, if not, how the hell not? What is going on in our process? Sasse said. And, number two, what are we gonna do to impose proportional cost in response? In a situation like this, that would mean Taliban and GRU body bags.
That GRU acronym refers to Russias military intelligence service.

(7,850 posts)he is outraged until he caves..and where Susan Collins is dismayed and concerned Ben Sasse lets loose with a swear word or two at which point Mitch tells him to shut up and sit down...and little Benny Sasse does what he's told and it's over...

(7,850 posts)His outrage is politically motivated and thats it.. hes not joining us ..hes determined which way the wind is blowing..his anger will be short lived .. it always is.. and this is what Im tired of: getting giddy over any GOP sycophant that has a moment of moral clarity..Sasses moment of clarity is perfectly timed..correct me if Im wrong but didnt Sasse vote against impeachment?
Lock him up.

(1,236 posts)You didn't care about any of this shit during the impeachment. You did not vote to hear one single fucking word of testimony. You are in the majority and now you call out the Dems in the Senate to do something.
You and your party own this stinking, treasonous turd, Ben. Be sure and let your constituents know you had your chance and you voted FOR the traitor. This happened after impeachment, so it belongs in the lap of every fucking GOP member of Congress...including you.

(672 posts)A republican senator who voted to allow trump to stay in office suddenly realizes the he has been complicit in all of trump's crimes. He must be very proud of helping to cause the ruin and deaths of so many American citizens.
