Ghislaine Maxwell had a cellphone wrapped in tin foil 'to evade detection'
Source: NBC News
Prosecutors revealed new details of what took place the day Maxwell was arrested and argued they underscore the risks of allowing her out of detention. They also pointed to her wealth, saying she controls a Swiss trust worth $4 million and has an account in England that has at times held over $2 million.

When FBI agents arrived at her home in rural Bradford on July 2, they breached the gate and then directed her private security guard to open the front door, the court papers say.
Through a window, the agents spotted Maxwell trying to flee.

Maxwell was charged in a six-count indictment alleging that she enticed minors, some as young as 14, who were abused by Epstein in the mid-1990s. A hearing is scheduled for Tuesday to decide whether Maxwell will be released from federal custody.

But wait, there's more... NEWS: SDNY in new filing says additional witnesses have come forward willing to provide info to the FBI on Ghislaine Maxwell since charges filed, which has the potential to make the Governments case even stronger.

Don't touch that back button, because the ramifications could get even more juicy. If she strikes a deal with SDNY to go after a bigger fish, Epstein is already dead. There's one other big fish who hung out with Epstein and liked young little girls as much as he did. But that's only conjecture at this point.

(38,601 posts)I thought her attorneys had been in touch with the authorities for some time.
Idk, arrest stories all start to feel like saddam in a spider hole PR at some point.

(22,674 posts)She attempted to flee once the FBI showed up.
She has money stashed around the world, in large sums.
She has knowledge of crimes and powerful people who may have committed heinous crimes.
And now SDNY is reporting they have additional witnesses who've come forward to make their case against her.
I suppose the initial question is, will she hold fast and refuse to cooperate or will she spill the beans?

(17,197 posts)She looks confident and self-assured. I needed to see a video, and found one on youtube. She comes across as a bit thick, not articulate and no confidence.

(297,799 posts)did find out that she was in Bradford, NH?
It just occurred to me that I hadn't read anything on how that came about.
With all her money one would think she could pay people to keep tabs on if the Feds were closing in or not. The article does say she had British ex-military forces going out to buy supplies for her.
If she were really smart I would think she'd be hiding in a country without extradition. Glad she wasn't.

You don't have to be a proponent of the accused to recognize a bit of PR "packaging" on the part of law enforcement. It's pretty transparent.
But, please .. proceed.

Could there ever be a less wholesome person within miles of the White House?

Not going to suggest anything, but been to enough swinger clubs to pick up on things.

(6,406 posts)....would have done that for her. Along with a few Visa gift cards to pay for it.
Use a false name on the phone, give it out only to your lawyer and pull the battery of your real phone out and destroy it. Of course, having a property in your name doesn't help much either.
But then, why stay in the USA...oh wait, Trump's disregard of the virus can't get her out of the country. How ironic.

(32,823 posts)She was hiding out in New Hampshire, and before that she was somewhere in Massachusetts I think. You know how easy it would have been to get across into Canada from upper New England? She could drive over the border, or take a private boat, private plane or even walk over in some places. Once she made it to Canada it would have been much easier to avoid the FBI and perhaps even get a fake passport. Leaving Canada would have been even easier, and this gal knows her way around Europe.
Jeffrey is dead and she can no longer expect any help from him, but others are protecting her. Somebody extremely rich and well-connected. That's why she didn't leave the US. I don't think Ghislaine is very wealthy, but she knows people and she has info on people. She's betting that info will save her from prison or worse.

That's what I don't get with some of these really evil (and rich) people. We can't touch them if they go certain places (which I'm sure we all hate).
Are they just arrogant? Do they think they're smarter than everyone else?
