DeSantis is arguing that the best way to fight the virus is to reopen. In other words, show the virus you are not a wuus, and earn its respect by going out and about. Thus, in about 30 days, Florida schools will be open, so hurry up and stop getting sick and dying people.

FLORIDA — Gov. Ron DeSantis is doubling down on his support of Florida schools reopening in the fall, despite coronavirus cases still rising in the Sunshine State.

The latest numbers show over 100 new deaths with the state death toll topping 5,000 people.

DeSantis said the best way to fight the virus is having a healthy, functioning society, and that includes reopening schools.

The governor is also supporting parents and teachers having a choice when going back to school. He also thinks teachers should be given the option to work remotely, if they're not comfortable returning to the classroom.

It is a wonder that he can keep a straight face as he tells Florida families and teachers to return to school in about 30 days.

Gov. Ron DeSantis defended his controversial decision to send students back to school this August by telling conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh that he would have “zero concern” sending his own kids back into a classroom.

“My kids aren’t school-age yet,” DeSantis said. “I got a 3-year-old daughter, 2-year-old son, and a newborn daughter. And I can tell you if they were school-age, I would have zero concern sending them.”

The remark came Wednesday during an interview on the nationally syndicated Rush Limbaugh Show. There, DeSantis detailed his rationale for reopening schools despite the resurgence of COVID-19 cases in Florida.

“With respect to the schools,” DeSantis said. “Walmart, essential service. Home Depot, essential service. Fast food, essential service. “How is it that the schools for our kids would not be considered an essential service? And I think it’s vital. I think that they’ve fallen way behind.”
