His financial interests in companies that have business ties with the Postal Service, as well as his extensive campaign fundraising efforts, also raise concerns regarding whether and how legal prohibitions on his ethical conflicts of interest and partisan political activity as a federal employee will be addressed, Schumer wrote to Duncan, according to a copy of the letter obtained by The Washington Post.

(12,712 posts)Ah, some of the issues were the forcing of full funding to the pension plans as pushed by the Republicans to put it the USPS in a crisis.
While their have been funding issues, I don't recall any MAJOR crises that would warrant this action at this time and funding would have been the approach, not dollars for lackeys.
How would crippling the USPS be good for the country as a whole? It actually creates many problems, like a security risk for one thing and can even damage commerce.
All that to try to interfere with the election AND give big chunks of cheese to another butt sniffer?

(6,207 posts)My wife and I both vote absentee ballots. BUT we hand deliver them directly to the City clerk responsible for voting. We do it as part of a necessary trip for food, medicine, Dr's appt. etc.
It doesn't make the task any harder the Post Office is next door to the City hall.
I know our local mail carriers are not happy with the disruptions.
