Kanye West loaned $6.8 million to his 2020 presidential committee, raised just $11,500

Kanye West loaned $6.8 million to his 2020 presidential committee, essentially self-funding his campaign during the first month and a half of his run, his initial campaign disclosure report shows.
In its first disclosure filing submitted to the Federal Election Commission on Friday, the West campaign reported bringing in a total of $6.8 million between July 15 and Aug. 31, with $6.76 million of that coming from West's loans to the campaign.
The campaign raised a little under $11,500 from eight donors that gave between $200 and $1,000 and smaller donors who gave under $200 during that time, the report shows.
West's campaign began accepting donations on its website in early August, a month after launching his bid for the White House.

(408 posts)A really lame version of "The Producers" comes to my mind right away. Sounds like a perfect setup to write off a bunch of taxes. Although I'm not sure I'd give Kanye that much credit, unless he was getting really bad advice from an accountant.

(291 posts)What a difference $6.8 million could've done to help the inner city communities of Chicago, where he was raised. But naw, $6.8 million wasted on a aint going to happen presidential bid makes way better sense.
good riddance Kanye

(12,165 posts)in a manic cycle, his mood will eventually come crashing down, and hell go into a crippling depression.
He is diagnosed as bipolar. If he is manic, he feels unstoppable now with delusions of grandeur. I doubt he is taking his medication based on the extent of his acting out.

(20,220 posts)Way too many bipolar folks enjoy their mania so much they don't take their meds. My dad ruined his marriage to my mother, ruined his career and ruined himself financially, all because he said his meds "slowed him down" so he wouldn't take them.

My mom was an unmedicated bipolar and she could go for days without sleeping. We were often afraid at night and locked our bedroom doors. Often, one person would stay up, which was brutal since she talked incessantly.
The meds interfered with her drinking and were dangerous with alcohol so they didn't last long. Then, eventually she would crash, which was heaven if it lasted for a couple of weeks. My parents separated, but my dad would not divorce her.
She eventually was treated for alcoholism, but she had Korsakoff's syndrome by then (wet brain). I had her live with my daughter and I for a couple years and she went with my sister for a couple of years when I remarried. She was a different person without the mania, such a nice person.

(20,220 posts)She told him point blank, those were her conditions. They had been married 35 years at that point. He kept drinking and not taking his meds, going on spending sprees and getting paranoid, seeing every black person as some kind of criminal. So she left and had him served with divorce papers at his job. He was shocked!
He ended up remarrying and he mellowed somewhat in his 70s. He had a series of small strokes at that point. He kept smoking too, and a massive stroke killed him when he was 75.
