Ex-Powell aide on Romney's foreign policy team: 'These people make me sick'

Source: msnbc

Lawrence Wilkerson, the former chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell, skewered Mitt Romney’s foreign policy team on Monday, saying their policies make his stomach turn.

Wilkerson took particular aim at John Bolton, former President George W. Bush’s ambassador to the United Nations—and now an adviser to Romney.

-snip-

"Utterly unbelievable, Wilkerson said, blasting Romney as “operating on a Cold War music sheet.”

Asked about former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s endorsement of Romney’s speech, Wilkerson declared that Rumsfeld, one of the key architects of the Iraq War “has zero credibility with me and he’ll never regain it again.”

Cofer Black

Known for Captaining the team that successfully drove Al-Qaeda from power immediately after their September 11 attacks and for providing early warning before 9/11...

From 2005 until 2008, Black was Vice Chairman of Blackwater USA, a US-based private security firm...

On April 26, 2007 Black was chosen by Mitt Romney, a Republican candidate in the 2008 United States presidential election, to head his counter-terrorism policy advisory group.[29]

In October 2011, Black was chosen by Romney to serve as "Special Adviser" on all foreign policy issues.[

I really value his strong opinions. I wish he would speak out more, especially about Bolton having a role in a Romney administration----it would be a disaster!!!

The real power at State at the time was John Bolton. The usual procedure is that Undersecretaries, especially for the key U/S post that Bolton was appointed to, are selected by the SoS to be part of his/her team. Bolton was selected by Cheney, not by Powell, and had a direct channel to Cheney, Rummy and Feist's rump (and incorrect) "intelligence" team, often keeping Powell entirely out of the loop.

But Powell played along with this farce and that is what I personally will never forgive him.

I won't forgive him either - Powell sold his soul to the devil when he went along with that sickening charade. The worst think about it was, I knew - I could tell - he did not believe a word he was saying. Fucking bastard. He'll never be able to wash the blood of his hands and I hope it haunts him.

how no Uranium was given to the Iraq for WMD-Weapons of Mass Destruction. And that they the French government and people, would not support the lying to the world and to the American people? This was weeks before the March invasion of Iraq. Knowing this is why Senators did not support an invasion. Where was the Arab League when we needed them? They decided to let the American people learn the hard way.

If Romney becomes President, Congress will have no control over the button finger. At whose expense? Seems like getting solar power ready would be a lot cheaper? It must be religious corporation that will blow the dome off of the rock. A corporation is a person, right?

The idea that he would come out so strongly against Romney should make every military guy/gal aware that this is an important election for the future of the AMERICAN DEMOCRACY.

Big ideas are not necessarily good ideas.
Fools are not harmless.
Conquering the world is difficult.
Liars tend to be dishonest.
Testosterone does not solve problems.
Talk tough and threaten other countries; motivate them to make bigger weapons.
When there is war, a lot of people die, a few people get rich, and humanity takes big steps backward.
Beware of fear mongers seeking more power.
Knowledge based voting is surely better than faith based voting.
Beware of people who hear God telling them to make war.
Beware of a president who declares a new starting date for history, say 9/11.
Beware of power freaks (people who REALLY like power).
Beware of presidents who prefer aggression.
Beware of people who do religion but not ethics.
Beware of Wyoming cowboys and Texas cowboys using their brains simultaneously.
Beware of a politician or political advisor who believes that principle has no value if you loose.
A secret meeting between oil company executives and a morally vacant vice president is a bad sign.
A candidate’s choice of a vice presidential running mate is an important clue.
Sometimes it is important to vote for or against the vice president.
When government helps big business rip off the masses, we’ve got a problem.
Beware of people who think it is really special to be the only remaining super power.
Beware of people who associate opportunity with having a powerful military.
Beware of people who seek money and power in the name of religion.
When people with radical ideas take themselves seriously, watch out!
Beware of a president whose base is the wealthiest one percent of the population.
Beware of defective business executives running government.
Beware of people who threaten honest judges.
Beware of a president who thinks a budget is just a bunch of numbers on a piece of paper.

of what we are doing in the Middle East and Caspian Sea Basin, the politics of oil and gas, what controlling it could mean, and the potential blowback.

Others outside the Beltway have laid it out too, but as far as I know, he's the only one who could have been in the room with the principals to know what's on their mind.
