Visually impaired woman files voting complaint

Source: Omaha World Herald

By Martha Stoddard

LINCOLN — A blind woman filed a complaint Tuesday after being told she could not cast a private early vote in Lancaster County.

In the complaint, Fatos Floyd said she called the Lancaster County Election Commissioner’s office about bringing in a group of visually impaired voters to cast early ballots.

She said she was told that the machines designed to allow blind people to vote without assistance were not ready and that programming for the machines would not be received for 10 days to two weeks.

Federal law requires that every polling place have equipment to assist visually impaired people to cast secret ballots.

FULL story at link.
