Obama Campaign Asks Court To Allow Early Voting
Source: Huffington Post
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- President Barack Obama's campaign is urging the U.S. Supreme Court not to consider an appeal in a dispute over early voting in the presidential battleground state of Ohio.
A lower court had reinstated early voting on the three days before Election Day and returned discretion to local boards of elections.
Secretary of State Jon Husted (HYOO'-sted), a Republican, has appealed that ruling. He's also asked the Supreme Court to delay the lower court ruling while it decides whether to take the case.
Attorneys say the Obama campaign submitted a court filing Friday asking that the lower court's ruling stand.

(22,000 posts)My recollect is if they deny, the petitioner can ask for a decision by the entire court. It would really suck if the Supreme Court became embroiled in an election mess again.

(22,000 posts)It will be interesting if they ask for a rehearing of the full court whether or not it will be granted.

(129,069 posts)and I anticipate they will fight this all the way to election day if given the opportunity. They certainly have enough Koch $$$ to blow through allowing them to hurl endless roadblocks at the voting process and cost the rest of us alot of money to reassert our right to vote unencumbered.

But will Roberts have the balls to stand up to his GOP masters or will he feel he has to make something up to them because of his Obamacare ruling?
