Absentee voters wait for 3 hours in Detroit to turn in ballots

Voters flocked to local clerks offices Monday for the final day of absentee balloting with a three-hour wait in Detroit as thousands flocked to cast ballots.
More than 1 million votes have been cast statewide with more streaming in Monday as in-person absentee balloting continued.
In Detroit, when doors opened Monday about 700 people were lined up among the three Detroit voting locations, Detroit Elections Director Daniel Baxter said.
"We are going to break our record from 2008," Baxter said, adding about 83,000 absentee ballots were issued four years ago, compared to an estimated 84,000 to 85,000 this election. . .
