Greek workers stage mass anti-austerity walkout

Source: AFP

Greek workers began a two-day mass walkout on Tuesday, bringing public transport in Athens to a halt, in anger at a new government austerity bill aimed at securing international aid needed to prevent the debt-crippled nation from defaulting.

Public bus workers in the capital joined taxi drivers as well as metro, tram and train workers in the strike, paralysing traffic in the capital.

Beyond transport, the judicial service was hit as judges and lawyers joined the strike.

Police and anti-riot troops were out in force around parliament and government offices in Athens city centre, with water cannons at the ready in case of trouble arising from a demonstration called by the country's two main labour unions, the GSEE and ADEDY.

Coming to a nation near you.

Really this is all the result of the filthy rich destroying a national economy. They pillage and plunder then leave the citizens to pay the bills the uber rich leave behind. This constant rioting, crippling strikes and relentless suffering for workers is the kind of environment the filthy rich must love because they create so much of it.

Greece's major problems arise from the fraudulent loans made by the big banks, loans that were knowingly structured by the banks to be hidden off the balance sheets. They were fraudulent against the people of Greece.
As soon as these loans were identified they should have been disowned. Not only should the loans have been disowned but any and all interest, commissions, management fees and favors paid should have been 100% recovered. Any spending by the government of Greece on major defence items and the like should have been cancelled and all contracts voided without one drachma, euro or dollar being paid for anything.

to pay for political promises.

The government colluded with the banks to structure the loans in such a way to hide Greece's actual debt so as to stay within Eurozone fiscal targets.

The filthy rich did not destroy the economy all by themselves - Greece would not have a fiscal crisis if tax evasion was not so prevalent.
