Judge orders partisans to stop asking voters for ID outside Homestead polling place

Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
By Adam Brandolph

Published: Tuesday, November 6, 2012, 10:32 a.m.

An Allegheny County judge on Tuesday issued an order to halt electioneering outside a polling location in Homestead.

County officials received a complaint shortly before 10 a.m. Tuesday that Republicans outside a polling location on Maple Street in Homestead were stopping people outside the polls and asking for identification.

The order states: “Individuals outside the polls are prohibited from questioning, obstructing, interrogating or asking about any form of identification and/demanding any form of identification from any prospective voter.”

Allegheny County Common Pleas Judge Guido A. DeAngelis, one of two judges overseeing Elections Court, issued the order and said such actions by partisans “could have a chilling effect” on voting.

Violence against these assholes wouldn't help our cause (and IMHO neither does suggesting it). These anti-American bastards simply need to be arrested for interfering with the voting process and spend plenty of time in jail to think about it.

I'm not just talking about people outside the polling places, but everything!

The people working the polls demnding ID (ESP.Pa.) when a judge has already ruled against it.

The crap being pulled by the Ohio AG.
etc, etc....

I heard there are lots of attorneys working the polls for Obama tody in a numberof di=fferennt states. Why am I still hearing abou this stuff going on?

I was born in Pgh. and lived there for 45 years. There wasn't any of these things being pulloedthen. I'm also sure that if someone woulde have tried it in Homestead, there would hae been fights! /what's happened to the people there?

He also mentioned there were tons of people at the Obama tent, and very few at the Romney table.

Intimidation is not acceptable.

I do have one question though...

Has there been any observation of people actually leaving the line or not voting after being approached by these people? I mean, if some jackass comes up to me in the voting line and comments about my ID, I don't care what they say. I'll either ignore them or make a big fuss in line to let others know about it. I'm not sure if it would make people not vote who are already standing in line.

In Philadelphia, the Republican Party said dozens of legally credentialed minority voting inspectors were removed from polling places in Philadelphia on Tuesday, reports being looked into by investigators with the District Attorney’s office.

State GOP Chairman Rob Gleason said 75 Republican election workers were prohibited from accessing polling places in the heavily Democratic city, prompting the party to seek a court order. The incidents, Gleason said, ranged from judges of elections refusing to seat minority inspectors to reports of Democrats saying “No Republicans will be allowed in the polling place.”

Tasha Jamerson, a spokeswoman for District Attorney Seth Williams, says the office is investigating a series of complaints regarding such minority voting inspectors. She did not have specifics on what kinds of complaints there were about the minority voting inspectors, but said the office was fielding a higher volume of complaints than normal.

A message left with the state’s Democratic Party was not immediately returned.
