Feinstein On Petraeus: ‘He Did The Right Thing’
Source: TPM
Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA), head of the Senate Intelligence Committee, walked back her statement Friday that she wished President Obama had not accepted the resignation of CIA Director David Petraeus, during an appearance on "Fox News Sunday."
"He did the right thing," she said of Petraeus' decision to resign. She added that she thought the president had no choice but to accept his resignation.
Feinstein said she had no reason to think that the woman to whom Ms. Broadwell sent threatening emails -- emails that triggered the investigation that brought the affair to light -- was also having an affair with Petraeus.

What is wrong with this picture?

(24,979 posts)Did Weiner even do anything besides send pictures of his dick to willing recipients? I forget: seriously. Who cares about sex affairs? They have nothing to do with legislation or policy. It's ridiculous that the government of 300 million people is so often held hostage to the genital urges of particular individuals.
In this case, a major war criminal of the invasion and occupation of Iraq is a great fucking hero and in charge of the covert war and covert policy machine, until the day it's found out he made some love on the side with his biographer!
Every value here is completely skewed. But the present point being, no words of even indirect praise would be found for any non-Republican non-General in the same situation. By politicians of either party. Oooh! "He did the right thing!" Gimme a fucking break.

(63,912 posts)I am far more interested in deals made in back rooms with special interests that in who makes love to whom.
The reality is, of course, that once this thing spiraled out of control with the threats and the involvement of the FBI, then it gets really sticky. If this story is true, Broadwell acted irresponsibly and possibly illegally. It's an incredibly rash act on her part because it does affect more than just her and Petraeus and has dragged Obama into it.

(24,979 posts)What does the UCMJ have to say about being the commander of illegal aggressive wars and murdering thousands of civilians in a foreign country where you have no business? (For that matter, what about killing combatants of the resistance to your illegal invasion?)
Who cares, right? It was all for god and country, just following orders. But as soon as he took his tool out of his pants during private time - crime! Crime!

Point being: Who the fuck cares?
Just one of these bozos should finally say it: My relations with consenting adults are not your business.

(24,979 posts)depends on the level of political support and presumably other factors related to opportunism and herd politics, and not on whether the person in question "did other things" that were actually wrong. Weiner and Clinton both did the same "other things" (lying in response to allegations of bad sexual conduct, even though the lie could never be sustained). But right and wrong and even whether something happened or not is apparently determined by "support of Democrats in Congress." So glad you can admit it.

beginning to winder whose side is she on? She ihas been too comfortable with the other side, especially Joe Lieberman. She is defending Petraeus too much.
