Republicans say Rice must testify on Benghazi statements

Source: Reuters

Republican U.S. lawmakers turned up the heat on Sunday on Susan Rice, saying the U.N. ambassador - seen as a possible nominee to replace Hillary Clinton as secretary of state - must testify before Congress on her remarks after the September attack that killed the American envoy to Libya.

Two influential Senate Republicans, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, did not back down on Sunday from their vow made last week to oppose any attempt by President Barack Obama to put Rice into a Cabinet position that would require Senate confirmation.

"She has a lot of explaining to do. I am curious why she has not repudiated these remarks," McCain, the top Republican on the Senate Armed Services committee, said on CBS's "Face the Nation" program.

Obama last Thursday warned Republicans that if they had a problem with the U.S. handling of the Benghazi attack in Libya to "go after me" rather than picking on Rice.

While we are at it, why don't we also call in Ray Lahood, Arne Duncan and Jay Carney to ask about their role in Bengazi security? Heck, why stop there? Lets call in the manager at the local 5 Guys Burger, since we are asking Susan Rice, the UN Ambassador, to talk about Bengazi security.

what the facts are, McCain & Graham are going to make this a "scandal." what explaining is there to do. Patreaus already said he wanted the al-QUEDA reference out of the talking points and the intelligence community signed off on the final version. What does Rice need to explain? Also, why is Sen Feinstein going along with the GOP bullshit?

are probably her friends because all of them been in the Senate so long. Some people forget who they represent. It is time to break that Senate up when they no longer represent their constituents. and they don't represent all the people in their states. Just look at the civil rights violations in Arizona and South Carolina. Instead of going on goose chases, they need to worry about the problems in their states.

unless it's under oath, and even then, no one believes them. The feigned indigence has worn out.
They'll jump up and down and even try to impeach the president, but the media may even be abandoning their lunacy.
As for Graham and McCain: They should be working at condom recycling or passing out towels in a bath house. They're both slipping into irrelevancy with each passing demand.
They'll get the message when late night TV hosts use them as punch lines.

This man is the first African American President elected in U.S. History and he was re-elected. Just what do McCain and Graham think will be in the history books years from now. They are really creating a terrible legacy for themselves with future generations.

budget for US embassies and after every Democratic one who voted for it.

And then after a National Security 101 class,

they will know whether a US Ambassador will comply with the request of our Commander in Chief to give the public briefing on the CIA's perspective regarding an emerging crisis,

or whether she ignores that request and airs all the current theories of an urgent ongoing investigation in a public forum.

They use a false narrative of the situation to distort the facts and then pursue the underlying assumption as if it were a holy quest for truth.

McCain and Graham are knowingly doing this. They are aware of who the players are and who knew what and when. They know because their pals inside the agency are telling them.

I suspect the real goal is to gin up more false terror narratives to protect the bloated "anti-terror" budget from meaningful evaluation and cost cutting.

is not about John Kerry, I'm now convinced this is an effort by the Republicans and their allies at FOX NEWS to tarnish the Obama Administration. FOX NEWS ought to be banned. There is another article written by Steven Myers, Sept 26, 2012 in which Hillary Clinton suspected an off shoot of Al Qaeda might have been involved operating out of Algeria but she had no proof. It was still under investigation.

Ansar AL-Sharia was the prime suspect though. It is a Libyan Militia group of former fighters, that fought in the Libyan Civil War. What is not mentioned, every group that overthrew Ghaddaffi is not interested in Democracy but Sharia Law. This is similar to the Taliban. They refused ti participate in an Election. The Libyan Government claimed they had no ties to Al Qaida. The Republicans and FOX NEWS are trying to plant that idea though because of politics and President Obama's comments on Al Qaieda. John McCain and Lindsey Graham needs President Obama to look weak on Foreign Policy. Eye witnesses of the attack pointed fingers at Ansar Al-Sharia and claimed they used the film for an opportunity to carry out the attack. Ansar Al-Sharia also claimed they weren't alone in the attack and it was done with an popular uprising.

If this is correct, then it did occur as a spontaneous act related to the film. It is spontaneous because it was done through an opportunity because of other events happening. Petraeus just muddied it up by claiming or placing Al Qaeda out there. He would have to connect Ansar Al- Sharia to Al Qaeda which is a leap. They have the same objectives but the same could be applied to the Taliban. And this point should be emphasized: Even though Petraeus put the thought out, that he believed Al Qaeda was involved, that is not evidence. They are taking what Petraeus believes as evidence.
