Downtown Springfield building explodes following gas leak

Source: MassLive

SPRINGFIELD — The Scores Gentlemen's Club building at 453 Worthington St. has exploded following the report of a gas leak.

The building was flattened, and the club is like a huge cavity in the road. At least two people were injured.

--snip--

Megan Labombard, 21, who works as a dancer at the Scores, said her employer gave her about 20 minutes notice to get out of the club where she had been working.

“I went across the street to the Mardi Gras Champagne Room, where we were having a drink, and the building where I work blew up,” she said.

Seriously hope the gas workers and everyone else got out of there, at least out of the building.

"There are a lot of leaks. One utility, National Grid, counts 14,000 in its system, which serves half of the Bay State, while Ackley, president of Gas Safety USA, a Massachusetts leak-detection company, puts the figure for all leaks at up to 30,000. Utilities reported 13.5 million cubic feet of gas lost from leaks throughout Massachusetts in 2009, an amount that is surely an undercount, according to the federal government, which collects the data."

I recall him saying how common it was in the US for people to get killed by gas explosions. I think it was on NPR.

Once again the private sector taking care of business.

PRIVATE wealth somehow, so that's wealth for "missionaries" who brainwash others with the elements of what manifests as HATE under the "right" circumstances, e.g. Uganda, all behind the veil of plausible deniability.

42 buildings damaged housing 115 residential units and a daycare which is right next door. Fortunately it was closed at the time of the blast. Before I retired I inspected that club once a year for the renewal of their liquor license.
