Trump encourages all states to send their troops to Texas to help Greg Abbott

Source: raw story

Matthew Chapman January 25, 2024 4:39PM ET

In a two-part rant on Truth Social Thursday evening, former President Donald Trump called on Republican-controlled states to send National Guard troops to Texas to help Gov. Greg Abbott repel a supposed "invasion."

"When I was President, we had the most secure Border in History," wrote Trump. "Joe Biden has surrendered our Border, and is aiding and abetting a massive Invasion of millions of Illegal Migrants into the United States. Instead of fighting to protect our Country from this onslaught, Biden is, unbelievably, fighting to tie the hands of Governor Abbott and the State of Texas, so that the Invasion continues unchecked. In the face of this National Security, Public Safety, and Public Health Catastrophe, Texas has rightly invoked the Invasion Clause of the Constitution, and must be given full support to repel the Invasion.…"

"We encourage all willing States to deploy their guards to Texas to prevent the entry of Illegals, and to remove them back across the Border," he continued. "All Americans should support the commonsense measures by Texas authorities to protect the Safety, Security, and Sovereignty of Texas, and of the American people. When I am President, on Day One, instead of fighting Texas, I will work hand in hand with Governor Abbott and other Border States to Stop the Invasion, Seal the Border, and Rapidly Begin the Largest Domestic Deportation Operation in History."

"Those Biden has let in should not get comfortable because they will be going home," he added in warning.

I want someone to explain why this isn't a blatant incitement of another insurrection. Does Trump think that his status as "GOP frontrunner" will protect him from yet another indictment? Why are we letting him get away with this?

What did he do in the first one? He gave a speech encouraging people to come to the WH and fight. What's he doing here? He's giving a speech encouraging other states to come to Texas to fight. And, he doesn't mean fight with migrants. He is trying to create an army large enough to cause Biden a big headache.

He doesn't care if any of those American troops get killed or not, any more than he cared if any of the J6 people got hurt, just as long as he gets what HE wants. I think that this matter should be referred to the DOJ for possible indictment against Abbott, Paxton, Trump, and that other guy. Just start making a list.

Everything that Trump touches withers and dies. I wonder how all those guys will feel when they are standing in front of a judge accused of insurrection and obstruction. Is Trump worth it? Destroy your future for the likes of the Orange Turd?

He's even been overseas to "talk" and "negotiate" with foreign leaders, since we kicked him out of the WH. Isn't that fraudulently impersonating a president? Lord knows, he wants the honorific spoken each time someone addresses him. To him, it's more than just an archaic, polite way to refer to someone who once held the office. Like everything else, *rump abuses this tradition... and in so doing, makes it confusing as to who, in fact, IS running the country. What deals has he made behind our backs with what countries for "when" he "gets back into office?" I remember when this kind of thing was so frowned upon, we actually brought back legislators who walked too far over the federal line.

Between *rump doing things like this, and Abbott and De Santis ruling their states like mini-fiefdoms, separate from the U.S. (except for taking the federal money, of course), they're on a trajectory to force us into a true constitutional crisis. In fact, to my mind, Abbott already has put us there by ignoring federal law and the supreme court. We have to start reining in these mini-dictators and indicting them for insurrection... each and every one of them. Otherwise, I fear the states are going to break apart just by default. Never mind an official declaration of secession. We're letting them get away with way too much. The time to put a stop to it was a couple of years back, right after the WH insurrection. Now it's going to be so much harder, and probably cost way too much in heartache and manpower.

The ONLY way a National Guard unit can legally cross a state line is if it's been federalized by the President of the United States.

Upon federalization the affected unit loses its authority to conduct law enforcement operations.

And last I checked former presidents don't get to order anything except all those damned Quarter Pounders he eats.

National Guard units routinely travel between states for training purposes, and states have all sorts of agreements with one another allowing for assistance with emergencies without Federalization of the troops. While active duty and reserve units are restricted, the National Guard works for their state governor as the state militia, and one state governor can absolutely authorize other state troops to enter in the state and do whatever.

Here's a press release from TX from last August: http://tinyurl.com/bdn4ndmm
Several states sent guard units and police to assist Texas with stopping immigrants in the exact same place, and they weren't federalized. It was (of course) called "Operation Lone Star".

This is after a SCOTUS ruling saying the NG can't block federal agents.

U.S. Supreme Court says Texas can’t block federal agents from the border

The high court’s order effectively maintains long-running precedent that the federal government — not individual states — has authority to enforce border security.

The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday ordered Texas to allow federal border agents access to the state’s border with Mexico, where Texas officials have deployed miles of concertina wire.

The order did not explain justices’ decisions. For now, it effectively upholds longstanding court rulings that the Constitution gives the federal government sole responsibility for border security.

Bottom line is who is funding the out of state units? Every major command, be it Active, Reserve or Guard, has a spending budget which flows down to individual units. As to the NG,, If a state did not previously budget for out of state support it would be up to the host state to fund them. At least in a sane, non-republican world. So if TX is not funding the out of state units, then it's up to the supporting states to fund their troops.

More cost to the state taxpayers with zero benefits. Pretty screwed up.

According to Newsweek Abbott has declared himself a wartime leader with powers that supercede the presidents.

The Biden administration's failure to "fulfill the duties imposed by" Article IV, Section 4 of the Constitution "has triggered Article I, § 10, Clause 3, "which reserves to this State the right of self-defense," Abbott said.

"For these reasons, I have already declared an invasion under Article I, § 10, Clause 3 to invoke Texas's constitutional authority to defend and protect itself. That authority is the supreme law of the land and supersedes any federal statutes to the contrary," he said.
