With the Democrats picking up 8 seats, will there be a fairer distribution on the various committees between Democrats and R's.

I'm not sure what you meant by the other part of your comment - ALL the 'chairmen' on The House committees are 'Republican'.

To borrow a phrase from the creepy-freepies, the 'GOP-E' seems intent on political suicide. My republican step-dad is having coniptions because Jeb Bush is gearing up to run in 2016.

The rank and file repubs, that I know personally, are all tearing their hair out over the naivety and flat-out political-gamemanship-ignorance of the party leadership, but the lofty elites just don't get it. You'd think after this election they would, but they don't.

Democrats in the House do not have term limits. The repugs imposed that rule on themselves.

To be fair, House committee chairs are typically chosen based on their seniority on the committee, and most committees don't have Republican women or minorities at senior levels. In addition, there just aren't that many House Republican women and minorities to go around. In the 113th Congress, which kicks off in January, House Republicans will have 20 women in their camp, compared to 61 House Democratic women. You can count on two hands the number of House Republicans who are minorities. By contrast, in the new Congress, the House Democratic Caucus will have a majority of women and minorities for the first time in history.

Still, that doesn't mean Republican leaders couldn't have picked at least one woman or minority for a committee leadership post. Rep. Candice Miller (R-Mich.), who is currently eighth in seniority on the House Homeland Security Committee, had a decent shot at taking over that committee. Instead, the chair post went to Rep. Michael McCaul (R-Texas), who is ranked fifth in seniority.

Earth shattering or surprising news for me. The GOP is the Party of White Male dominate.

Did anyone expect differently? They are trying to figure out how the heck they lost and how best to reach out to women and minorities. That's gonna take a really, really long time considering their base and how to deal with the backlash from it.

How can anyone say they are changing with the times when they do this.

The party of dwindling numbers just reminded the vast majority of minority and female voters that they are an exclusive club of dying White men.

The Party of fear just isolated themselves in full public view, so we know who they are.

They have just ensured Democratic takeover of the House in 2014!

Now, the only real Conservatives left are in the Democratic Party, which means things will start moving left again.
