(CNN) Donald Trump has paid $392,000 to The New York Times to cover the legal costs from his failed lawsuit against the newspaper and its journalists over a 2018 investigation into his finances that included confidential tax records, a spokesman for the Times told CNN on Monday.
Trump was ordered to pay the money in January, more than eight months after Judge Robert R. Reed granted the Times motion to dismiss the case against it and its journalists, concluding the journalists conduct was protected by the New York Constitution.
Among the claims that Trump brought against the Times was the accusation that the journalists were liable for tortious interference in how they allegedly sought out his niece and caused her to allegedly breach a 2001 settlement contract with the Trump family, CNN previously reported.
The reporting series, authored by David Barstow, Susanne Craig and Russ Buettner, went on to win the 2019 Pulitzer Prize in Explanatory Reporting. Last year, the judge said he was dismissing the claim against the Times because The Times purpose in reporting on a story of a high public interest constitutes justification as a matter of law.

And if he did, $392-grand puts him awfully close to that alleged 400-million dollar load hes going around bragging about as the cash he has on hand.

and their crews to N.E. Scotland where the plane would get fueled w/jet fuel that Trump was getting a
cut of and the planes crews had to stay at Trumps golf clubhouse too. Grifting mother fucker.

(10,130 posts)recently reported that Donald J. Trump's personal tax returns have been the subject of an IRS
tax audit since approximately 2009 and that this audit apparently relates, at least in part, to
questions the IRS has raised regarding a $72.9 million tax refund claimed in 2010. See Russ
Buettner, Susanne Craig and Mike McIntire, Long-Concealed Records Show Trump's Chronic
Losses and Years of Tax Avoidance, N.Y. TIMES (Sept. 27, 2020). The New York Times has
reported that an unfavorable determination could result in the imposition of a tax assessment
in the range of $100 million.
Trump wouldn't or couldn't respond to that letter nor AG James.
AG James made a referral of her findings of 445 identified frauds to the IRS.
There were bound to be tax implications beyond the 17 convictions of Trump org for tax fraud, etc.
That is the part where people are in the dark - beyond the $604M required to appeal, Trump very likely has a big tax problem.
Justice matters.

(10,130 posts)I was certain Jan 6th was coming. I warned family, etc.
It is worse now.
They're posting stuff like Nancy Pelosi was behind Jan 6th, etc.
Whatever one would reasonably say about Trump and the GOP, the trolls turn it around and allege Democrats are Biden are the really guilty ones.
A big fault is corporate media and social like Twitter, Facebook, etc
Media used to be a fairly unbiased referee - not perfect - but trying to adhere to standards or journalism.
That is becoming increasingly rare.
I felt that Trump would go down like Al Capone as he was campaigning for 2016.
It is shocking after all he has done that he is still viable.
It is surreal
