Schiff: Supreme Court delaying Trump immunity case would be 'terrible decision'

Source: The Hill

Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.) shared concern over delays in legal cases against former President Trump on Sunday, noting that a delay in the Supreme Court case over Trump’s claim of presidential immunity would be a “terrible decision.”

Delays in Trump’s legal cases have slimmed the odds that he will stand trial before the November election. Schiff said he sees Trump’s federal Jan. 6 case as the most important and emphasized that it is critical the Supreme Court move quickly on Trump’s claim that he cannot be prosecuted because he was working as the president.

“The Supreme Court moved with great speed when it came to ruling that Trump could appear on the ballot,” Schiff said on CNN’s “State of the Union” with Dana Bash on Sunday. “The question is, will it also move at great speed in rejecting this bogus immunity claim?”

“If it doesn’t, it’s making a deliberate decision essentially to push the trial past the election, and I think that would be a terrible decision both for the interest of justice,” he continued. “It’ll be a terrible decision in depriving American voters of the information they would learn during the course of that trial, but it would also just further discredit this partisan and reactionary court.”

trump abetting ass on the scale. Weeks to decide to take the appeal, oral arguments in the last day of the session. The fix is in and Ginni’s best friend is on the case. Sickening…

Trump is promising blood in the streets if he’s not elected
Trump has also promised to free the violent people who stormed the capital on Jan 6

If Trump succeeds in a violent overthrow of the government, no one will be safe including black man Clarence Thomas
I think that if there is a bloody coup, many of Trump’s upper echelon followers will turn on each other as they scramble for power...

Usually the best educated and most capable people are killed at the outset because they are the ones most likely to form an opposition government.

The less educated followers turn on each other because they see a chance to enrich themselves. I know people who are true Trump believers and I don’t think they know they will be at risk if there is a violent overthrow. Just because they’ve been true believers from day 1 won’t protect them.

The Supreme Court should wake up and see that they are putting themselves personally at risk if they say Trump has absolute immunity. Even if they do everything Trump asks, they can be found guilty of some made up charge so someone else who has more to offer Trump can take their place. That’s how dictatorships work.

Finally, the super wealthy who think they have nothing to worry about should remind themselves of how many super wealthy men have fallen out of windows or been poisoned in Russia. All their money and power won’t protect them.

And we are not living in World War II times. There’s no Churchill to buy us time. And there’s no FDR in another powerful country to fight for our lost democracy. There are, however, powerful dictators who are eager to subjugate the US.

have taxpayer paid security 24/7/365 already. If Trump somehow became a dictator in our country they'd probably house Clarence and his "best friend" within Fort Knox. Just so none of those blood-thirsty Democrats could get to them, you know? 🙄

Exactly spot in. These idiots need to understand the statement “careful what you wish for”. Chaos and instability mean violence affecting your own children. Anyone who want war has succumbed to evil.

How about someone make it bad for the Supreme Court justices that are tsf toadies?

How about add some more so called "lib" Justices to the court to dilute rogue justice power?
