RFK Jr. campaign says Jan. 6 'activists' have been 'stripped of their Constitutional liberties'

WASHINGTON The campaign of independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. is out with a fundraising email referring to Jan. 6 defendants as "activists" who have been "stripped of their Constitutional liberties," echoing former President Donald Trump's rhetoric about the 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol.
In the appeal sent to supporters Thursday signed by "Team Kennedy," the campaign called for the exoneration of "political prisoner Julian Assange," the founder of WikiLeaks, suggesting he and Jan. 6 defendants are victims of prosecutorial abuse.
"This is the reality that every American Citizen faces from Ed Snowden, to Julian Assange to the J6 activists sitting in a Washington DC jail cell stripped of their Constitutional liberties. Please help our campaign call out the illiberal actions of our very own government," the fundraising email read.
A British court is currently considering whether to extradite Assange who is an Australian, not American citizen to the United States. Snowden, the former National Security Agency employee who leaked national security secrets, is living in exile in Russia.

At this point, can anyone on DU actually think that RFK Jr. positions somehow overlap with Biden's (or Democrats in general)?????

BUT the content of this OP and the views about the J6 insurrectionists, are FAR FAR away from anything that a "Democrat" would support.

(14,026 posts)Democrats are widely, I think, smart enough to know the name Kennedy is not an automatic guarantee of a good candidate, but those pushing that narrative you mention don't seem to agree.
Hell, there is a certain John Kennedy, Senator from Louisiana, who is an absolute ASS.

(14,026 posts)Kennedy, should he not waft away before November, is likely a threat to siphon off a lot more votes from the other colossal, dangerous buffoon than from President Biden.

Conviction for heroin possession
In 1982, Kennedy was sworn in as an assistant district attorney for Manhattan.[4] After failing his bar exam, he resigned in July 1983.[26] That September, he was charged with heroin possession in Rapid City, South Dakota.[26] He pleaded guilty to single felony charge of possession of heroin in February 1984, whereupon he was sentenced to two years' probation and community service.[27][28] After his arrest he entered a drug treatment center. To satisfy the conditions of his probation, Kennedy worked as a volunteer for the Natural Resources Defense Council and was required to attend regular drug-rehabilitation sessions. His probation ended a year early.[29]

Yet, all the polls say that Biden loses ground to Dump when RFK the lesser is included in the polling. How is he possibly more of a draw for potential Biden voters than for potential Trump voters?

(2,823 posts)when you are tried and convicted by a panel of your peers and end up in prison, one consequence of that is that you lose your civil liberties. Everybody loses their liberties in prison... not just J6'ers! That's one of the hard things about prison. You may maintain your rights (or at least some of them), but you DO lose your liberties. Did he not do time for heroin possession? Or did he get away with a fine, community service, and a slap on the wrists? If so, seems like he's afflicted with "affluenza" and knows not of what he yells! (LOL)
