Koch Brothers' Americans for Prosperity are leading the charge for Snyder's 'right-to-work' bill

Source: Detroit Free Press

Gov. Snyder's right-to-work initiative has the coordinated support of Americans for Prosperity, the conservative non-profit organization that funded Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker's efforts to strip that state's public employee unions of their collective bargaining rights.

AFP was founded by wealthy industrialists Charles and David Koch. Their business interests in Wisconsin include a branch of their pulp and paper giant Georgia-Pacific, a coal subsidiary, timber plants and a pipeline network.

“Michigan passage of right-to-work legislation will be the shot heard around the world for workplace freedom," AFP said in a press release Thursday. "A victory over forced unionization in a union stronghold like Michigan would be an unprecedented win on par with Wisconsin that would pave the way for right to work in states across our nation."

The organization's sister organization, Americans for Prosperity Foundation, has produced a 15-page booklet titled "Unions: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly: How forced unionization has harmed workers and Michigan."

AFP also recruited 300 supporters to demonstrate in favor of Gov. Snyder's proposed bill, just as organized unions rallied their members in opposition.

teabagger cronies of the Koch Brothers. And that's what happens when people blindly vote for teabagger republicans in god's country. Democrats and moderates are a rarity in Kansas today. Many teabagger runs for office aren't even challenged. And TPTB in Kansas are intent that this is a model for the entire USA, as the Koch Brothers spread their power grasp across the USA.

The Koch brother's paid for, or are members of every group in the United States that is destructive and traitorous to the hard working citizens of this country.

It is unfortunate that they are not the only destructive and traitorous force workers are facing in this country.

Our politicians enabled, aided and abetted these traitors !!!!!

They gave them the power over our entire legislative body, including the Supreme Court.

Pledge signing, secret meetings, back door deals, unfair practices, no bid contracts, greased palms, tax exemption, deregulation, subsidies and the list goes on and on.

ALL of the ILLS of this country can be blamed on our traitorous politicians !!!!!!

In a just world, our prisons would be filled with all those who enabled the destruction of the American work force and the harm these corporations have caused the world over.

piece of paper from some certificate mill, and an absolutely completely obvious history of screwing up and maybe even malfeasance in his/her duties, wasting money regularly, fucking up the culture of the workplace with gossip, abusing important relationships in the community, etc. etc. etc. one week that s/he's the Administrator, several weeks later s/he's decided that s/he's the Director, then s/he's the Manager in Chief and, finally, she's the CEO, and each new designation is greeted with oooos and aaaahhs, an unlimited expense account from the board (on non-profit finances, mind you) and even more toadying during the 20-30 hours a week that s/he's actually in the work-place, which you can actually kind of understand, because everyone wants him/her gone, out. of. there., so they can actually get their work done.

And there's no one who can do anything about any of it, except hope for an opportunity in which the person is promoted up and out of there. The "cream" rises until it sours and it always protects itself from the right to organize.

what is becoming so dangerous in USA, INC. We do not have a separation of political leaders and corporations, much as our separation of political leaders and religion is marginal. We are in a war in this country and I'm afraid "we the people, the majority" are going to lose this war unless "we the people" wake the fuck up. As it is, the STUPID in this country continues to grow and grow.

don't even know who Joe Biden is. That's how STUPID and willfully ignorant many Americans are today. Sadly, many Americans, I think, don't even look beyond a good slick sounding name. So the cancer eating up America grows and grows. And many expect Obama to wave a magical wand and fix it all ...

you will need to change the right-to-work to right-to-fire. Americans already have the right to work. It's the right to fire at will that is being added by way of legislation.

By this, I mean for the purposes of going main stream and being closely associated with "Right to Work" so that when people think of "Right to Work", they think of the alternative phrase and ultimately the clear meaning behind the bill.

Sun Dec 9, 2012, 12:43 PM
Dec 2012

A lawsuit was served on the House of Representatives late Friday claiming the Michigan Open Meetings Act was violated when the state police locked down the Capitol Thursday during debate on the bills to keep out thousands of angry protesters.

Ingham Country Circuit Judge Janelle Lawless ordered the House to a hearing scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday.

It was unclear late Friday how the suit would affect Republicans' plans for a final vote on the legislation Tuesday.

Republicans' move to make Michigan — the birthplace of the United Auto Workers and the modern-day labor movement — the nation's 24th right-to-work state stayed in the spotlight, attracting national media attention.
