Grover Norquist: GOP Will Keep Obama On 'Short Leash,' Leave Him To 'Blow Up Small Countries'

Source: Huffington Post

Grover Norquist expressed confidence on Thursday that Republican adherents to his rigid anti-tax hike platform would emerge victorious in upcoming budgetary scraps, joking that it would leave a bitter President Barack Obama to engage in a campaign of indiscriminately bombing "small countries" for his personal entertainment.

Speaking on C-SPAN's "Washington Journal," Norquist argued that congressional Republicans had a number of weapons ready to wield against Obama and Democrats in order to ensure that there would be no spending increases or tax hikes.

“Obama will be on a very short leash, fiscally speaking, over the next four years,” Norquist said. “He's not going to have any fun at all; he may just have to go blow up small countries he can’t pronounce because it won't be any fun to be here, because he won't be able to spend the kind of cash he was hoping to.”

Norquist said that Republicans would be willing to use the threat of the sequester -- large spending cuts paired with tax hikes scheduled to kick in if a deal to avert the fiscal cliff isn't met by the end of the year -- to leverage Democrats, whom he said were fearful of that possibility. Norquist also claimed that GOP lawmakers would utilize continuing resolutions, or temporary appropriations bills used in the absence of an official budget, in order to chip away at spending.

I don't buy that the libertarian wing of the GOP - which is just about the entire group, no matter how they brand themselves, doesn't approve of Nixon's 'the government should be run like a business' and Reagan's 'government is evil' mantras.

Nordquist turned into the 'starve the beast' and 'government small enough to drown in a bathtub' agenda. Romney, Ryan, Boehner, Rand Paul, the Koches, Alan Greenspan and the rest of the crew are Randians. Nordquist has framed the message and been paid by the Koch brothers to advance their agenda. Just because Democrats think this stuff is crazy, destructive or stupid won't make them go away.

Alex Jones and Glenn Beck aremost modern Libertarians who want government to be shrunk so there is no Social Security (welfare moochers and statists who will have to bow to one world governance); no public schools (indoctrinating children into homosexuality and communism while becoming Muslim or atheist); and no police, fire or postal services (they are watching you and making out lists to kill you).

I hate to say it, but when you talk to these guys, Breitbart and Norquist is heroes. I've even run into those who believe the Koch brothers are out to save America. And they vote.

but my point is NOBODY voted for this pig shit, therefore he has no actually power other than the media giving him a platform to spew his garbage. He's not even a pundit and Fat Ass with his own radio show, or a jackass like Beck or anyone at False Noise. How does this pathetic twat who's never outgrown his whiny 12-yhear-old persona have ANY credibility, and pull over anyone in the government enough to threaten them if they go against his self imposed dictatorship?

Media is owned by reactionary conservatives and they will only allow the voices they want us to hear and to have only their box of arguments to be considered in public policy.

They built up the Oliver Norths, John Boltons, Grover Nordquists and other criminals to national stature by installing them on think tanks and then tell the media to give them air time. They've invited Jack Abramoff (sic) the felon on the air again.

They've fawned over Rove, Coulter, Gingrich, Ryan, Palin and the rest of the gang, because that's what they want America to accept as mainstream and their acts are played as heroic and intelligent. They've ever put the criminal Tom Delay on DWTS and make that maniac look like everyday people...

Years ago these amoral scoundrels would have been jailed by an informed electorate. We've had the national conscience shredded and been taught to act like greed, sociopathic pigs.

Many of us have stood aside in horror but they are destroying the country and the world. And I've just come off of threads on the CT massacre so I'm not really able to discuss this well now.

CBN (Christian Broadcasting Network), The Family Channel, The Fox Family Channel and The 700 Club:

...In production since 1966, it is one of the longest-running television programs in broadcast history. The 700 Club can be seen weekdays in 96 percent of U.S. television homes, and has an average daily audience of nearly 1 million viewers. It is currently hosted by Pat Robertson, Terry Meeuwsen, Kristi Watts, and Gordon P. Robertson, two of whom (one male and one female) will host on any given day...

CBN Broadcasts currently reach over 100 nations in dozens of languages, and are viewed by more than 360 million people each year. CBN's primary strategy is to develop television shows produced by local staff in selected countries. Programs are culturally sensitive, relevant to the ethnic audience, and presented in their native language...

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABC_Family_Channel

Changing The Family Channel Cable Network Plans To Expand Programming

The number of cable subscribers grew from 28 million in 1985 to 49.6 million in May 1990. The network, the nation's 10th largest cable operation in terms of viewership, is carried on cable systems available to 55 percent of all American homes.

http://articles.orlandosentinel.com/1990-09-28/lifestyle/9009270340_1_broadcasting-network-pat-robertson-cable-network

In the 1990s as the GOP was taking over just about everything, it was said the program reached nearly 50 million American homes. It migrated to various networks, such as FOX, ABC and Disney. This is the block of voters that powers the GOP.

I just posted it and thought it would show just how much all of this is related. And Democrats who say both parties are the same, or won't vote, or whatever, are giving the power they want to turn this nation into and medieval nightmare.

and we'll send your kids to the "right" schools to teach you who to vote for, who to blame and who to hate--who needs stinkin facts. yeah, those wealthy families sure want to help america and americans-so they should pay their taxes, since most get subsidies and lucrative contracts that "we the people" pay for and keep their money in the states. right guys? you want to make sure our infrastructure doesn't fall and the well being of all americans are one of your concerns, right?

I had a similar experience with someone over the past several years. Everything was peachy keen as long as everyone let her be the boss and said "yes" to everything she asked. Once the "Noes" started flooding in, she totally lost it and has gone through four attorneys (in eighteen months) as each realizes she's delusional and a threat to their ability to practice law if they continue to threaten people on her behalf. Grover is showing the same signs and symptoms as his imaginary world (where he is Emperor) crumbles.

At least some on the right are finally asking "Who the hell is Grover Norquist, and why are my Congersscritters listening to him?"
