House Republicans Refusing To Approve White House-Requested Sandy Aid
Source: CBS NY
The governors of New York, New Jersey and Connecticut are putting out a strong message to Congress: dont leave for the holidays until you decide on aid for states battered by Superstorm Sandy.
The House has refused to approve $60 billion in funding to help in recovery efforts, and homeowners have been left to rely on volunteers to rebuild their homes destroyed by the storm.
The Jersey Shore was nearly obliterated and without the money from the government, theres no telling when rebuilding can begin there.
Several major tourist spots damaged in the storm, like Ellis Island, are also at the mercy of federal funding, CBS 2s Marcia Kramer reported Thursday.

This will be a fun food fight with these Neanderthals. They just don't get it. Maybe they figure NY/NJ/Conn are 'lost to the Liberals', so they don't give a shit. Guess what, this latest Scrooge moment will hurt them badly.

(65 posts)Do you think people will finally understand about these congress-creeps? This is the new republicon agenda and it will not change any time soon. They do not care about us, period! They care about control and power and greed is their god. They don't even care that they will go home to these states and have to hear the screaming of their people to give some assistance. Why the hell else are they in office. right? Wrong! They are there to push their power grabs and take over...you know how they are screaming that Obama is taking away your rights? It's not the president, it's the congress, it's the state legislators. Only they can decide to spend money, or not. Time to stop voting against your own interests. Do you all see that yet? No More Republicons!

(5,818 posts)help in emergency storm relief? In their minds, Christie must be a traitor, for putting the needs of New Jerseyans above Presidential politics at the very end of a hateful and mendacious Romney campaign.

(3,502 posts)While it's nice of them to help us in the 2014 races like this, it does leave a lot of people seriously screwn. A pox on all their houses. And this needs to be a huge, huge story.

(10,597 posts)One of the first steps in protecting yourself from evil, is to be able to name it. To know it when you see it. This move by the House Republicons' is nothing if not pure evil. Yeah, they are shooting themselves in the foot if they keep this up. This situation goes much much further than those 3 states (NJ, NY & CT). We don't need a committee to tell us that this is purely UN-AMERICAN.

Immediately I said, "I want to live forever."
"Sorry," said the fairy, "I'm not allowed to grant eternal life."
"Oh! Okay," I said, "Then, I want to die after Congress gets its head out of its ass!"
"You crafty bastard," said the fairy.

(7,403 posts)How Republicans voted for aid to Red States hit by Katrina and Rita in 2005 and how they are responding to Blue States hit by Sandy.
Then compare and contrast how Democrats voted on aid for storm damage in these same storms.
One side is compassionate (Democrats) and the other side is vicious (Republicans). Now I wonder which side is on the winning side of this issue.

(2,730 posts)and gives us the upperhand. Now I'm very sure there are Republicans in Congress from all three of those states. Every citizen including the Governors and state legislatures should be putting the pressure on republican house members of those states. Apparently, they would rather represent the Republican Party establishment, even when it puts their own states' in jeopardy. It is political, but expose the Republican party for what it is. This obstructionism by that party needs to be broken, because it is dangerous for this country. Every citizen in those states should be informed about this! They even jumped on Christie, when he didn't play Politics. The Republican Party is no good period!
