Walker's Economic Destruction Corporation – Another Scandal Brewing
Source: PolitiScoop
Madison Governor Scott Walkers quasi-public organization known as the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation (WEDC) has been audited and the results should alarm state residents. The WEDC replaced the states Commerce Department in July of 2011 and in just 17 months has lost track of $19 million dollars in loans.
If that were not enough bad news for tax payers, the independent auditing firm also suggested the state will never recover that money and the $19 million lost may just be the tip of the iceberg because the state has about $51 million in outstanding loans the WEDC has failed to track.
The auditing agency cited sloppy accounting practices as well as poor monitoring of loans and a mass exodus of employees contributed to the huge loss of state money. The states' former Commerce Department consisted of 300 employees until Walker dissolved the department and installed Walker's Economic Destruction Corporation. Now the WEDC has just 50 employees.
This is the same department Walker has been counting on to help create 250,000 new jobs, a number that is now acknowledged as impossible to attain.
The Wisconsin State Journal Reported:
The problems at WEDC are so serious, said Rep. Peter Barca, D-Kenosha, that if its problems can't be fixed over the next year, it should be dismantled, and the state should return to its previous Department of Commerce.

Walker's legacy of destruction continues.....

(1,881 posts)They gave themselves a chance to rid the state of Walker, but decided all his anti worker actions and scandals brewing in the background weren't enough to justify a recall. Now they're losing MILLION$$$. Good call, Wisconsin.

(13,418 posts)that all of that money went to their crony buddies, right? Thanks for the campaign money...here's your reward.
I'm was very sad to see that Walker wasn't recalled. Here in Ohio, we couldn't even recall Kashit. But at least we defeated SB5.
Is he planning on running again?

(8,879 posts)to bring an end to the Walker governorship, this sentiment hurts like hell.

(179 posts)It bothers me too that this scumbag Walker gets to hold onto the title, the authority and the money that goes along with the governorship. Too bad that the citizens of this great state could not see the truth. I was there in spirit with you all as you went through it, and I too was very disappointed that things would go back to the status quo.

"No good deed goes unpunished" as they say. I hope the people of Wisconsin are satisfied now. They have this louse all to themselves - and they can keep him-all to themselves!
You get the government you deserve! I hope you all are happy ever after-I know your stupid governor is, and he is laughing at you fools all the way to the bank. rofl: I only hope you all have some more money to give him to spend/flaunt.

(579 posts)and it hurts. He will continue to do lots of damage. I think we have him dancing though, and the prospects of a statewide election in 2014 must give him pause given Tammy and Obama. Don't rest now Scooter. We won't let you.

(5,477 posts)Thanks for belittling the efforts of all the Wisconsinites who tried to give him the boot.
You're a real class act.

(5,477 posts)Can you be more cavalier? I'd think a retired educator from the midwest would be more supportive of the WI dems who have been struggling to protect educators. But I guess we're all just losers huh?

(4,452 posts)I live in WI and I didn't vote for him. Don't lump everyone in the state into one group.
Why are you expressing so much laughter about this??? Do you really think it's funny?
malibea
(179 posts)I am not lumping everyone in the state into one group, but apparentlly enough of them did vote the other way-or was there voter fraud? Also apparently you did not convince enough of your friends and allies to vote like you did. Don't get mad at me because I laugh- maybe you should too. Or better yet, run for governor!

(4,452 posts)You're a real gem. Post your thoughts on a discussion board and then tell people what you think is none of their business.
I didn't say anything about voter fraud, so I don't know why you threw that comment in there.
I'm not mad at ya, I just think you're a troll who's acting like an ass. You're a waste of my time, so we're all done here.

(21,195 posts)candidate would have been elected. But no they depended on the Koch paid TV commercials and didn't do their own research. They get what they deserve. Though I feel for the over million people who protested and voted against him in the recall.

(179 posts)What difference would the money make if people knew to do the correct thing in the first place? Are people that easily swayed (BOUGHT)?
And what was promised with this money anyway? If had to be something akin to you would LIVE FOREVER! Had to be.

(179 posts)I know that the R's got a big turnout push from all of the money, but I was speaking about the D's. The money should not have had anything to do with the D's, unless they were only D's in name only????? Maybe that's what was really happening!
HereSince1628
(36,063 posts)It played here and in many places across the country, and we were moving on from a Dem gov who decide not to run again. It wasn't like we fell to a landslide numbers. Just defeats in a lot of races.
This is exactly what I mean when I say "you get the government you deserve- after all, you voted for them!"
In addition, as you say, you can not be lazy and depend on someone else to do your research. If you believe everything someone is telling you -without verifing anything- then you might as well let them VOTE for you too; it's the same thing. You don't even have to get dressed and go to the polls.
Then you want to complain- give me a break. Dont' say shit to me because I tried to get you to see the difference, but n-o-o-o, you decided to take their word over mine, so be it. Now live with it.
But please don't complain.

I expect the Teabaggers to start protesting any second now.
Ok, maybe now.
Well, it'll take a minute.

(1,077 posts)It seems that the audited figures don't lie along with supporting documentation. Audited, to me, means there are documented standards to follow. This story smacks of something setup and administered by political hacks. From my experience, political hacks (appointees), can't manage anything. What did the business model look like?
These guys were entrusted with public funds?
This is the classic cliche, figures don't lie, but liars can figure.
Better watch out, Scotty might try to change the audit group. That will be a real red flag.
Did I say I wouldn't trust him.
