Watchdog requests documents from Gingrich ethics probe

Watchdog requests documents from Gingrich ethics probe
By Alicia M. Cohn - 01/25/12 01:22 PM ET

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) filed requests on Wednesday seeking access to documents uncovered in an ethics investigation into former House Speaker Newt Gingrich that took place in the 1990s.

The group filed Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests with the Internal Revenue Service and the Department of Justice requesting access to any documents provided between 1996 and 1997 by the House Ethics Committee relating to the investigation.

The group is looking for any additional documents that might not have been released publicly as part of the committee's report.

The possibility of additional documents has been the subject of much speculation, fueled by House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who served at that time on the Ethics Committee that investigated Gingrich on allegations of tax cheating and campaign finance violations.

most of the GOP running the show behind the scenes almost have to know that if they really do want Obama replaced that the best candidate would probably be Romney and even thats a slim hope at best imo unless Obama does something big time like would have an affair or something similar.

Or is his ego so big now that he thinks he can tap dance around anything in there?

(Rhetorical question I guess.)

since the Pelosi interview segment has been re-broadcasted many times, it has finally registered that the way she says "I know things" so emphatically which tell me that "Gingrich will never be the Republican nominee" implies a fact not an opinion.

So I started thinking this evening, what could that investigation have revealed that tells Pelosi so emphatically that Gingrich will not be the nominee. (Here I need to insert the fact I am acutely aware of the depths of the contempt that the power-brokers in DC despise the man. I told my Republican brother this before it became a topic of national conversation). What facts literally disqualify a person from becoming President of the United States, one of which might be true about Gingrich but has never been openly revealed.

Ask yourself that simple question and you can imagine the handful of answers.
