Club for Growth will punish members voting for Sandy flood aid

Source: The Hill

The conservative Club for Growth said Friday that it will punish House members who voted for a flood insurance measure aimed at helping pay for Hurricane Sandy’s damage.

The Club will “key-vote” the measure, using it to compile an annual rating for each lawmaker.

The House on Thursday morning approved the $9.7-billion increase in funding for the National Flood Insurance Program. The bill passed easily in a bipartisan 354-67 vote.

“Congress should not allow the federal government to be involved in the flood insurance industry in the first place, let alone expand the National Flood Insurance Program's authority,” a statement from the Club’s Andy Roth said.

I understand that the so-called "Club For Growth" was an invention of Grover Norquist.

I think there may be a case for bringing up the "Club For Growth" on racketeering charges.

Grover's chances in a New York or New Jersey court would definitely not be very good.

Ummm, newsflash Club for Growth. This is one of the important things government does. It steps in and helps its citizens in times of need. This allows these communities to function economically and return to independence more quickly.

Sorry that this basic concept is so difficult to grasp.

Club for Growth... yep clubbing growth. Or more like killing it. That is what happens when things are 'clubbed' - they die.

Anyone who is a member of an outfit like Club for Growth has no business being in the United States Congress to begin with.

13. That cleared up something for me. Flood insurance --- of course!

A big reason they want the govt to stay out of disaster relief is so their cronies can clean up selling flood insurance. Without the competition, cost of private policies would soar and fatten plutocrats' coffers even more.

I guess it still hasn't sunk in just how despicable some people can be.

It's like a farmer I know, who owns several thousand acres. He would love to see subsidies go away, so he can buy the land, when someone else falls on hard times.
